In the field of engineering all the mentioned college are the best one. But arranging them in the increasing order .i will suggest the below order: 
VIT , NIT'S , SRM BITS PILANI.

• In these 3 BITS is the best institute, BITS PILANI is the best private institute in INDIA. that ranks in top 5 colleges of INDIA always.
• After the IIT or BITS, it is better to take a government institutes like NIT'S rather than taking any private college.
• Between these 3 VIT should be the last choice... that is If NO BITS, NO NIT'S, then you can go for VIT.

Among all the institutions you have mentioned BITS Pilani grabs the first palce.Not all the NIT's are better.So some of the NIT's like TIRICHY, Warangal,Roorkee etc can be in the race .And then followed by VIT and SRM.

See, BITS Pilani is far better than half of IITs and 20 NITs, It competes with top5 NITs and 4-8 ranked IITs. It's an outstanding institute. Except BITS Pilani, I would place above mentioned colleges with some of NITs(20th-30th ranked & 5 IITs from Bottom)
so on the basis of placement , infrastructure,platform.......
