No it is not compulsory to give JEE mains exam two times one in January and second in April. It depends upon the student that whether he or she want to give me exam twice or once. But this result for the JEE mains is selected from the both of the results which is the best is selected as the result of the selection in JEE mains.

Dear Aspirant,
No it is not compulsory to give both attempts, however students give both of them to be sure of getting good marks. For example if for some reasons the student did not get good marks in January attempt, s/he can appear again in april to improve the score.

No, there's no compulsion to attend both January and April session of JEE mains.
One is free to attend either of the two sessions or even both the sessions.
In case if one appears in both January and April session then the best of the two scores is considered for admission.
So it is a wise and better decision to attend both the January and April session so that even if you fail to perform well in one session , you still have chance to improve your performance in the the second session.
