As per your query. iit bombay required a basic under standing a subject .dept knowldge of topics.. gate also required a basic knowldege of subject .and ability to problem solving.

Dear aspirant, you should focus on your studies not on the level of question paper because the question paper set by any institute is based on the guidelines only. So it is better that you focus on your knowledge any prepare for your exam by practicins previous year question paper mainly.

Level of next year exam cannot be decided or dependent on previous years. Please keep this in mind always. You can have a lot of examples for this. However, talking about IIT Bombay, it sets a bit difficult paper for CSE. But, if you have prepared well till the exam, these things hardly matter as it is same for everyone.
