Hello student,

The scope of Microbiology is huge because of the involvement of microbiology in various fields such as Pharmacy Medicine, clinical research, agriculture, dairy industry, water industry, nanotechnology & chemical technology. A person who specializes in this field is called as “Microbiologists”.

Microbiologists are the scientists, those study organisms & infectious agents which cannot be seen with the unprotected eye.

They study the interactions of microorganisms with other organisms & humans, which exist & affect our lives.

The role of Microbiologists is to ensure our food is safe or not, developing green technologies, treating and preventing disease or tracking the role of microbes in the climate change. Microbiologists work in many different job areas, in a variety of different job roles. Microbiologists can make careers in research and non-research fields.


India is a growing country in order to the food industries. There are around 500 million high and medium class consumers and any industry that is involved in the food sector, do not want to spoil the opportunity to grab the consumers. That’s why the demand of food technologist is increasing day by day in India.

A professional in the field of food technology can find the employment in the field of food manufacturing plant, research and development labs, catering companies, food whole sellers, restaurant and the hospital.

People can choose the area of their working as per the interest of their subject. Some of the regulatory positions are also available by the introduction of new food law. There is a big opportunity to work with across the countries with multinational companies.
