B.Sc. Nautical Science and B.Tech. Marine Engineering offer fulfilling careers in the merchant navy but to different roles in a ship:
- B.Sc. Nautical Science will prepare you to become a deck officer who has responsibilities like navigation, cargo operations as well as managing the ship. Upon graduating you can start as a Deck Cadet and progress up to Captain.
- B.Tech. Marine Engineering will if you want to work as an engineer on board in charge of the ship’s engine, upkeep and technical activities. You will start as a Junior Engineer and rise up to Chief Engineer.
If you like navigation, leadership and being at sea, you can pick B.Sc. Nautical Science. If you are mechanical aptitude based, like machines and engineering systems then you can pick B.Tech. Marine Engineering.
