The specialization falls under the discipline of Chemical Engineering. It covers stages such as discovery, design and development of products and their constituent parts within the pharmaceutical industry. The technology employed in research and manufacture of pharmaceutical drugs is designed, constructed, operated and maintained by Pharmaceutical Engineers. Pharmaceutical Engineers work with chemists and pharmacists, in researching and developing active pharmaceutical ingredients which are systematically formulated into final products. Pharmaceutical Engineers work towards achieving safety in both personal and environmental applications.
