Hello Aspirant,
The astrophysics department at IISc is very small and consists of only six faculty and 10–15 PhD students. However, IIA is a major astrophysics institute of India, with several world class facilities (see - Indian Institute of Astrophysics). In IISc all faculty work in theoretical aspects (mostly high energy astrophysics) of astronomy, so you don’t have much choice. Also one important drawback at IISc at present is that, two of the most senior faculty are going to retire in a year or so and they don’t take any student. Other faculties are also very much occupied. This is the reason that IISc is part of JAAP program where you will have opportunity to work with faculties of IIA, RRI, ISRO and IISc at your interest.
Now coming to IIA, there are about 50–60 faculty so obviously a very large group. They work on several topics in astronomy (but mostly stellar or solar physics). Most of the faculty work in observational astronomy as they have their own observatories. IIA is also a very active member of ASTROSAT, therefore you are always in priority of data acquisition (IISc will not be able to get data that easily!). Since they are a big group, they take more people for PhD hence you have higher probability getting there. Only drawback is that, the faculties are restricted to take a certain number of students (and this limit is actually very small) so sometimes even though student and professor have a mutual understanding, student cannot join that faculty. Otherwise, it is one of the best institutes to join to pursue a good career in astronomy.
Hope you find it helpful
let me know in the comment box if you are having any further doubts
thanks
Good Luck!

Hello Aspirant,
Students applying through SCB channel will have to
appear in the IISER Aptitude Test which will be conducted at various
centers across the country. To calculate your percentage of marks
obtained, use the percentage calculation method adopted by your board.
so , you are 100% eligible for IISR aptitude test.
thank you.

Hello!
According to my research as you are from general category you might get addmission in the later cut offs based on your IISER aptitude test numbers.
Hope this helps!
Dear Aspirant,
The cutoff of last year went to 2250 last year for scb channel and there is very less chance of getting iiser at this rank being from general category. But I suggest not to loose hope and still try fir the counselling because sometimes miracle happens in last round.
As the vacant seats were alloted to students from scb channel in special round. So you can participate in it and the chances will be quite in your favour. But the decision can be even changed by the officials regarding the vacant seats to whom they have to assign. Like they may even allot those seats to IIT jee Channel. So be on your toes and if u get chance grab the opportunity with both hands.
Hope this information helps...
All the best!!

Hi Sanskriti. Congratulations on your result! I understand the doubt and confusion you must be going through. I suggest you talk to your father and make him understand that with such a hectic schedule, you managed to secure a great rank and if taken a drop, you'll be able to score even more if you are consistent and dedicated. However, if he still does not understand your side, I believe you should still continue your preparation with the help of online resources and make a time table accordingly for college and NEET subjects. This will help you have a back up plan if you are not able to score your desired marks next year. All the best! Believe in yourself!
Hello, Vishwa Bharti is a central University and affiliated to UGC. It has 10 institutes under it. University Grants Commission of India has officially recognized Vishwa Bharti (VB) as an important Institute of the country. It has its own syllabus and courses. All the best.
Hello there,
Hope you are doing well. See if you are really interested to pursue MBBS ,then you should convince your father to take another year drop and study for NEET . 566 is a good score and if work diligently for the remaining 6 months or so that are left for NEET 2022 you can really work wonders and qualify NEET with flying colours .
Medicine is indeed a really interesting discipline as you get to apply stuff practically and not just read in books .So,I'll suggest you to work hard with full dedication and get into your desired college next year .
Most importantly have confidence on yourself. All the best !
Dear Rajkumar,
IISER and IISC are reputed institutions that offers a bachelor in science degree. JEE Advance is a exam through which you can get a chance to be admitted in these two institutions. IISER eligibility criteria is to secure a rank within top 10000. And IISC Bangalore requires you to secure a rank within 250 if you are general, 6000 if you are OBC, 8000 if you are SC and 50000 if you are of ST category. Hope this clears your doubt.
