Hello reader,
With your rank, if you come from a reserved category, then there might be a chance for admission in IISER. But if you come from unreserved category, then getting into top tier IISER is unlikely. You might have chance in IISER colleges with low cutoff range.

Hello,
Let’s take a closer look at your situation. With a score of 98 marks in the IAT and your General EWS (male) category status, you’re positioned reasonably well—particularly for IISER Tirupati and Thiruvananthapuram (TVM).
Historically, these two institutes have posted cutoffs for the General EWS category in the 95–105 range. This puts your score right in the competitive mix, especially as the seat allocation process moves into the second and third rounds. Statistically speaking, Tirupati appears more attainable, while Thiruvananthapuram is possible, though perhaps a touch more competitive. Meanwhile, options like IISER Berhampur might present even better odds. On the other hand, IISER Pune and Kolkata are quite competitive for your score and category—realistically, it’s challenging to expect admission there without a significant change in cutoff trends.
It’s important to keep your choices broad. Make sure to include all possible IISERs in your preference list to maximize your chances. Also, regularly monitor the counselling portal and make use of float/slide options where available.
If you require guidance on filling out choices or staying updated on counselling rounds, our team at Careers360 can assist you.
Wishing you the very best with your admission process.

Hi,
It's amazing that you're aiming for IISER Pune which is one of the most prestigious institute for science education and research. You can get into IISER once you meet their eligibility criteria. There are 3 channels to get in IISER
Admissions are purely based on your IAT rank , category and seat availability.
You should have also completed 10+2 with PCM/B with a minimum percentage depending on your category.
Wishing you the best
Hello student,
With an IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) all-India rank of 3963, there's a good chance you might get admitted to an IISER, but it depends on the specific IISER and the course you're aiming for.
BS-MS programs are generally more competitive than specialized programs like the B.Tech. or BS in Economic Sciences at IISER Bhopal.
Different IISERs have varying cut-off ranks. Some, like IISER Pune, are more competitive than others.
The number of seats available in each IISER and program also plays a crucial role.
Read the below article to understand the cutoff trends of IAT for IISER

Thank you!!
Hello,
If your category rank stands at 3,375 in the General-EWS category for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT), regrettably, securing admission to any IISER appears very improbable according to 2024 and current information. The closing ranks in the EWS category during the latest counselling rounds were significantly lower, generally under 800, with prestigious institutions like Berhampur and Tirupati being filled before reaching 800–900, and even the newer IISERs not surpassing that threshold. Consequently, a ranking of 3,375 is significantly beyond the admission range for all IISERs.
Hope this helps. All the best!
Hey there, this cutoff might be low for general category the general category for last round last year for IISER was BPR :BS-MS at 4484 ( last round) so the range cannot be above 4500 .This year also you can expect the cutoffs around same range with little changes .
Dear Candidate ,
Admission is highly unlikely with a 7,000 EWS rank - it is well beyond the typical closing ranks for even the newer IISERs . If you are still interested, you can :
- Register for counselling on the official portal .
- Monitor Round 1 -2 allotments, though chances remain slim .
- Consider alternative programs .
hi,
With 98 marks in IAT 2025 and being in the General EWS category, your chances of getting a seat in IISER Tirupati or IISER Thiruvananthapuram seem a bit low because usually the cutoff for these institutes is higher, especially for the EWS category. Sometimes the cutoff varies depending on how many students appeared and the overall difficulty of the exam, but generally, the safe scores are a little above your mark. Still, you might have some chances in the newer IISERs where the cutoffs can be slightly lower.
Hello
When choosing between IISER Pune and RV College of Engineering (RVCE), it's not just about which one is "better"—it's about aligning with your career goals and interests.
Choose IISER Pune if you're passionate about pure science, research, and academics.
Choose RVCE if you're aiming for a strong engineering degree, especially in CS/IT, with excellent placement opportunities and industry exposure.
IISER Pune offers a vibrant science-culture, clubs, and meaningful inter-IISER exchanges But placements are limited—most students prefer MS/Ph.D. trajectories .
RVCE students enjoy balance: strong academics and robust extracurriculars in Bangalore’s innovation ecosystem.
Hello Aspirant,
Typically the suitability testing admit card (IAT-IISER Amplitude Test) is generated online and there is no expectation that you place a picture on the card after printing it off. The picture that you uploaded while you completed the form will be printed directly on the admission card so there should be no requirement for a separate passport photo on the printed one, at least that is how it is normally done.
Anyway, make sure you check the official instructions that came with the admit card on May 15. If they do require a physical picture to stick on the admission card they will clearly mention it. If the application uses your one passport photo for NEET then you may want to think about scanning and printing a digital copy if you do have to stick a picture on your admission card, in the event of such an emergency.
