Hello Vivek!!
As you mentioned you are a ward of Defence Personnel, First of all, Congratulations for all your achievements. You have really attempted well all the Exams.
You are asking for the seat in IITs, NITs, etc., You are not  going to get it through defense quota because there is no provision of defence quota in NITs. Some IIITs and Universities are there, which accept it like Punjab University, IIIT Delhi etc.
You will be given preference a lot as you have scored well in all the Exams and in BITS, you can get easily with that marks.
In IITs, cut offs varies so might you don't get good branches but still you can apply for JoSAA Counselling and JAC Counselling too.

I am providing you the link through which you can get brief knowledge about all the Colleges in which you are eligible for and check the cut offs for different streams available in the Institution:

Through these links you can easily check all the Colleges list and try to take your branch which has a lot of scope in the future.
Don't go on the trends, give preference to your wished stream.

Overall, you will definitely get the seat in good IITs, IIITs, IIERSs, etc.

Hope that my answer helped you!!

Good Luck and Best Wishes for your Future!!

Thank You

Hi Esha!

There are three channels of admission into the IISERs(Pune, Kolkata, Mohali, Bhopal, Thiruvanthapuram, Berhampur and Tirupati) for undergraduate BS-MS program:-

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana channel (KVPY)
  • Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology
  • State and Central Boards Channel (SCB). ( There are different cut off percentage of different states and central boards )

If you are a KVPY Fellowship holder - SA, SB or SX - then you can apply for admission to the IISER BS-MS Program via the KVPY stream.

The eligibility (the minimum rank required in JEE Advanced for IISER admission committee to consider your application) is below 10000.

For SCB, you first have to score more than a specified cut-off in your 12th Board Exams to be eligible to give the SCB exam(top 20 percentile). But in 2020, due to COVID-19 crisis, the cutoff for boards is relaxed upto 60%.After clearing the eligibility criteria you can sit for the exam. Again just like any other exam the cut-off varies every year. (PS~There is no actual release of cutoffs for the SCB stream).

Also after you complete your bachelor's you may join IISER'S for Integrated PhD, or MS by Research. For this you have to qualify exams like IIT-JAM or JEST.

The results of IAT is released on the official website. However, it is just a list of roll numbers that are to allotted seats in the IISERs(no marks or rank is released). Same happens for KVPY and JEE Advanced, only list of the roll numbers of the selected candidates is released.

The IISER 2020 Admission through KVPY stream has already begun and the IISER Aptitude test 2020(through SCB stream) has ended and the seat allotment will soon begin. Only stream left is JEE Advanced.

All the best!

Hi,

Since you haven't specified your category and the total rank, it is difficult to find out about your chances in IISER.  If you are general category, you have to score a rank below 10000 to get into any IISER. For IISER Pune, you have to score around 6000.

But if you are OBCNC, SC, ST or PD , then your category rank should be within 10000, to join IISER. This is as per previous year statistics.

To know more about 2020 IISER cut offs, refer the article below

You can check your admission chances through college predictor tool.

Hope this was helpful.

Hello,

The cutoffs for IISER 2020 has not been released yet if you qualify their cutoff rank then only you will be eligible for it. They would release their merit list on the basis of that list admissions will be done. According to your rank I think you do have a chance.

Good luck.

Hello there,

Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced Channel-

  • A General category candidate must secure a rank within 10000 in the Common Rank List (CRL) of JEE Advanced 2020 in order to be eligible for IISER admission.
  • For candidates belonging to the reserved category (OBC-NC, SC, ST, PD), their category rank should be within 10000.

Eligibility Criteria for KVPY Channel- Candidates applying through KVPY channel, must have a valid KVPY fellowship commencing from 2020-21 academic session. Other than this, they should meet the additional cut-off criteria specified for marks obtained in 10+2.

Hope this would answer your doubt.

Hello Ashish !

Though there is no official release of cutoff marks or rank by the IISERs, but it is generalised that at least 70+ marks is required for reserved seats in the newest IISERs.

It is very unlikely for you to get any IISER with 21 marks in IAT. Please note that your board % doesn't play a great role for getting you in the merit list because you just have to cross the cutoff for SCB to appear IAT.(i.e 60% for all boards this year)

There is another chance for you in the next year.

All the best!

Hello Ananya !

There is no release of cutoff marks or rank by the IISERs officially for the SCB stream. But it is generalised that a score of 70+ can be enough to hope for a seat in the newest IISERs in third and fourth or last rounds of counselling.

This year the IAT test was at par with the other year's with good level of difficulty. So, it is expected that the cut-offs for each round shall go down by a margin of 8–10, which makes your chances of getting in by the 2nd round and if not then the 3rd Round. Your list of preferences play a great role in predicting if you can get a seat . So, if IISER Thiruvananthapuram or IISER Bhopal is in your first or second preference, you can get it in 2nd or 3rd round of counselling. Otherwise, you have good chances to get IISER Tirupati or Berhampur after 3rd round of counselling. Sometimes ,post counseling rounds happen to mop of the remaining seats . If this happens, you can expect a seat in IISER Mohali in the worst circumstances.

Nevertheless, if you get IISER Tirupati or BPR in 3rd round, you can float to a higher preference of IISER. You definitely have chances to be honest!

I will just request you to be patient till the last rounds of allotment and keep checking your mails.

All the best !

Hello Ashish !

Though there is no official release of cutoff marks and rank by the IISERs but it is very unlikely i.e impossible to bag a seat in any of the IISERs with 21 marks in IAT with any kind of reservation.

It is generalised that about 75+(with reservation) in IAT may get you a seat in the newest IISERs. But 21 marks is too low....

Please note that that the board cutoff for every board is relaxed upto 60% due to the COVID-19 crisis. And you just have to cross the cutoff, it doesn't play such a big role for getting you in the merit list, only your marks in IAT does(along with your reservation)

There is no need to be disheartened...you can try again and excel in the exam again. When there is will, there is way !

All the best !

Hi,

The NEET exam is an entrance test for admission to undergraduate courses of medical and allied medical health sciences after class 12th. The paper is multiple choice question type and question are asked from following subjects -

Physics

Chemistry

Biology.

So while preparing for neet exam if one give other entrance exam for which the syllabus is almost same like neet it will benefit to him/her.

hcu entrance exam, ICAR ug entrance exam, IISER aptitude test all are the entrance exam for admission to undergraduate courses after class 12th. The eligibility rule to apply these courses may vary.

However if the syllabus for these exam is same as that of neet exam it will definitely help you to carck these type of entrance exam.

Hope it helps.
