Dear Aspirant,

Yes, you can surely apply for admission in the BA LLB course if you are an arts stream student. Admission to top colleges is based on merit through the entrance exam. After the completion of the 12th, you can give the exam of CLAT which is a common law admission test. Through this, you can join different NLUs or any private colleges with CLAT scores so that thereafter you can opt for any of the integrated courses that can BA LLB, BBA LLB, etc. If you are a student in the arts stream, can apply for admission to the BA LLB program. Merit-based entrance exams are the basis for admission to prestigious colleges. The best choice for you is to apply for CLAT.

Hope it was helpful.

All The Best.

Hope this information was helpful  and useful to you

hello aspirant,

There are various NLU's that offers best Placements with comparatively average to high course fees. Here are the list of best NLUs that offers best placement packages among the rest:

NLSIU Bangalore

NALSAR Hyderabad

NLIU Bhopal

WBNUJS Kolkata.

But these colleges has very high course fees. And if you are looking for some NLUs that offers best placements and the lowest course fees, you can go for NLU Delhi and RMNLU. NLU Delhi and RMNLU are among the cheapest NLUs in India. The annual fee for UG courses at NLU Delhi is INR 1,83,000, while the fee at RMNLU is INR 1,08,000 per annum (not including one-time and refundable deposits). Furthermore, their average packages is around 16 LPA to 18 LPA.

Hello Archi,

In order to answer your question, we need to understand the relationship between CLAT rank and CLAT marks, and how past year cut-offs can be indicative of the general trend. Usually, every year marks required to secure a particular rank changes and do not remain constant. Because of that reason, such trends can only indicate how the result of a particular year could be.

In the CLAT 2021 exam, the lowest accepted score to achieve a rank of 2040 in the general category was 74.25, while the same score could have enabled an aspirant to secure a rank between 900-1100 in the general category in CLAT 2020. For more information refer to this article: https://law.careers360.com/articles/clat-marks-vs-rank

Going by the past trends, 49.5 marks in the general category offers very slim chances of getting an NLU. However, as mentioned earlier, the previous year's cut-offs are only indicative in nature, therefore, you may land into an NLU depending on the cut-offs of the present year. You can try the CLAT college predictor by going to the following link: https://law.careers360.com/clat-college-predictor

Thanks

Hello Ktech,

Unfortunately with a rank of 1765 in EWS, your chances of getting an NLU are very slim. The reason for the same is that reservation for EWS under CLAT differs from university to university and many of them do not even offer reservations for EWS. Moreover, some universities that do offer reservations for EWS, do it for the residents of that respective state in which the university is located, which substantially reduces the number of reserved seats for EWS all over India ranking.

Though your chances of getting an NLU with that rank are slim, you may apply for the vacancies that the universities release.

Thanks

Hello Abhishek,

In order to answer your question, I will need to elaborate a bit on how EWS and other reservations work within the ambit of CLAT (or the consortium of NLUs). EWS ranking or any other ranking achieved in CLAT has a different number of seats allotted by respective universities. Such seats differ from university to university and can have horizontal or vertical reservations depending upon the university.

For example, NLSIU reserves 6% of the total number of seats for the Economically Weaker Sections. On the other hand, NALSAR offers 13 total seats for EWS but within that 3 are reserved for EWS that are reserved for residents of Telangana. more information for each university can be found on the official website of CLAT: https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/clat-2023/participating_universities.html

Coming to your question, with an EWS rank of 136 you can get a tier 2 NLU (but can differ on the result of that year). However, if your respective state offers EWS reservations for the residents of that particular state, then you may also get a tier 1 NLU. Hope this helps!

thanks.

Hello Anjali,

As you are already aware, a general category rank and a quota category rank are two separate heads and are treated differently while assigning a seat to an aspirant. Every National Law University (NLU) within CLAT has a different number of seats assigned to each category (EWS, SC/ST, OBCs, etc.). Getting a seat based on a general rank or a quota rank depends on whether the seats under that specific category are already filled or not.

Coming to the present question, an aspirant is eligible to apply for a vacant seat in any of the NLUs, provided that a notification for vacant seats has been issued by the university, irrespective of his or her rank . However, getting admission through a vacant seat depends primarily on the rank of the aspirant.

Thanks

Greetings,

No, If a student does decide to leave an NLU after 2-3 months of taking admission, they would not be required to pay the fees for the next semester, provided that the same is intimated to the concerned authorities of the university. Similarly, the college shall not confiscate the documents, and the student can retrieve them once the leave application is processed. However, it is imperative to note that the students are not eligible to recover the already paid fees for the semester they are currently studying in.

Hello aspirant ,

The NLU's providing Bsc+LLB currently are Gujarat National Law University (GNLU), Gandhinagar, National law university Jodhpur and NLU Kolkata (NUJS). But there are not the only good universities providing this course. There are several other private universities like

  1. KIIT UNIVERSITY
  2. UPES DEHRADUN
  3. PRIST UNIVERSITY PUDUCHERRY
  4. RAMAIAH UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES
  5. AMITY UNIVERSITY
  6. ADAMAS UNIVERSITY
  7. MAHATMA JYOTI RAO PHULLE UNIVERSITY
  8. MANSAROVAR GLOBAL UNIVERSITY
  9. SMCET JAIPUR
  10. KALINGA INSTITUTE OF INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY
  11. The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies

You may apply to these universities by giving CLAT for the NLU's while LSAT and KIIT for the private universities

The eligibility criteria must include class 12th from a recognized board.
Many top law colleges in India set the minimum standard in terms of minimum required marks in the qualifying exam which generally varies from 45% to 60%.
