Baboo Banarasi Das College of Dental Sciences (BBDCODS), Lucknow, offers the best dental education among the elite dental institutions in the country, holding truly to the purpose of excellence in dental education. Admission into the various dental programs is based on a rigorous selection process that aims to select the best of the lot. The admission season at BBDCODS is usually observed between May and June for an academic year that starts in August to September. Good, fair, and competitive admission process ensued from application through a national-level entrance exam. Admission into undergraduate programs, through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), and entry into postgraduate programs through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET MDS).

Candidates applying for the BDS program must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.  MDS postgraduate admission is as competitive. The MDS offered by the college includes Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodontics and Crown Bridge, Conservative Dentistry, Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, Public Health Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine and Radiology, and Oral Pathology and Microbiology. These have different seat capacities with specialization having from 2-6 seats per program.

Application Process

Application procedures at BBDCODS are different for each program.

For BDS program:

1. Clearing the NEET-UG examination.
2. The candidate can apply for state/university allotment, going through a centralized counseling process.
3. If the candidate satisfies the cut-off, the candidate will be called by the state for counseling.
4. If a seat is allotted, the candidate shall report to BBDCODS for document verification and fee payment.

For MDS programs:

1. Clear the NEET MDS examination.
2. Apply for centralized counseling for MDS admissions.
3. Attend the counseling as per NEET MDS rank.
4. If offered, join BBDCODS for document verification and admission process.

General documents necessary for admission:

• BDS degree certificate/mark sheets (for MDS applicants)

• A domicile certificate (wherever applicable)

Degree wise Admission Process

BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery): Selection for admission to the BDS course at BBDCODS is based on merit under the candidate's performance in the NEET-UG. The college offers one hundred seats for the undergraduate program. To be eligible, a candidate must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and must have qualified in NEET-UG. Admission will be governed by the rules and regulations of BBD University.

MDS (Master of Dental Surgery): The BBDCODS offers nine specializations for MDS courses. Admission into the postgraduate programs are based on NEET MDS scores. Looking at the intake capacities for different specializations, the college varied its capacities:

1. MDS Orthodontics: 6 seats
2. MDS Periodontics: 6 seats
3. MDS Prosthodontics and Crown Bridge: 6 seats
4. MDS Conservative Dentistry: 6 seats
5. MDS Paedodontics and Preventive Dentistry: 5 seats
6. MDS Public Health Dentistry: 3 seats
7. MDS Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery: 3 seats

Candidates must have completed their BDS degree and be successful in qualifying in NEET MDS to be eligible for admission.
