Biju Pattnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha (BPFTIO), situated in Cuttack, is a unique autonomous institute imparting training in the field of cinema and television. BPFTIO provides a three-year diploma course in the following fields: Cinematography, Film and Video Editing, and TV and Sound Engineering. The process of admission to the institute selects talented hopefuls who are interested in making a career in the field of cinema and television.
The admission to BPFTIO is primarily done through the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE). The candidates seeking seats in any of the diploma courses offered by the institute are obliged to adopt the standard entrance examination. Thus, there has been left a fair contest between aspiring students through the OJEE entrance examination.
Candidates are required to have completed their 10+2 or equivalent studies from a recognized board to be eligible for admission into diploma programs at BPFTIO.
OJEE Application: The first step for candidates is to apply for the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination through the official OJEE website.
Exam Preparation: Aspirants must prepare thoroughly for the OJEE, concentrating on relevant subjects and topics from the exam syllabus.
Appear for OJEE: Candidates must take the OJEE on a specific date at their allotted exam center.
Result Declaration: A few days after the exam, results for the OJEE will be announced.
Counselling Process: Shortlisted candidates will be called for the OJEE counselling process, during which they can opt for BPFTIO and their preferred course based on their ranks and the availability of seats.
Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will have to submit all required documents for verification, which generally include:
10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
OJEE rank card
Category certificates (if applicable)
Domicile certificate (if required)
Recent passport-sized photographs
Fee Payment: After verification of documents, candidates must pay the requisite admission fee to reserve their seat.
Admission Confirmation: After fulfilling all the above processes, candidates get their final admission confirmation from BPFTIO.
Diploma in Cinematography: It offers 30 seats and is a program focusing on art and techniques pertaining to motion picture photography. Based on performance in OJEE, the candidate is admitted. The total fee for the course is Rs 70,500.
Diploma in Film and Video Editing: This program also caters to 30 students and trains them in the art of post-production editing of films and video. Through OJEE, deserving candidates have to be selected, and the course fee is Rs 70,500.
Diploma in TV and Sound Engineering: The intake capacity of this program is also 30. This course deals with the technicalities of TV production and sound engineering. The admission to the course will depend on the performance of the student in OJEE, and the course fee would cost Rs 70,500 in total.
The admission pattern is the same for all three diplomas. Candidates have to register through the OJEE and qualify based on their performance in the test. There is no separate admission process for this course in the institute.
