College of Teacher Education, Tura Admission Process

College of Teacher Education, Tura, is one of the prestigious teacher training colleges in Meghalaya that serves as the gateway for quality teacher education across various courses. Situated at Rongkhon, this institution is affiliated with the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), where a teacher's preparation is complete. College of Teacher Education admission may, in common parlance, be referred to as sifting through some of the best possible candidates for admission to the Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) programme. Such College of Teacher Education admissions based on merit must consider the student's performance in the qualifying examination or entrance tests. 

For this reason, the College of Teacher Education has opted for admissions to the B.Ed course through CUET-UG, the National University Entrance Test for undergraduate programmes, to follow the national standardisation systems for college entries throughout the country. Such a limited cadre also aims to provide quality education through control of the size of classes. The College of Teacher Education admission cycle is thus almost in tandem with the academic year and may vary in dates. Eligibility to the B.Ed. programme holds that the candidates possess either a bachelor's degree or any equivalent qualification from a recognised university. College of Teacher Education Application Process

With regard to this, the following steps have to be taken by the applicants for admission into the B.Ed. course at the College of Teacher Education, Tura:

  • CUET-UG Registration: Candidates needed to register and be present for the CUET-UG examination organised by the National Testing Agency (NTA). 
  • College Application: Eligible applicants must access the application form once the results for CUET-UG are declared and go to the official website of the College of Teacher Education, Tura.
  • Form Filling: Fill the application form correctly with personal, academic, and CUET-UG information, ensuring to complete all required fields correctly. 
  • Document Upload: Scan all relevant documents as specified under the guidelines of application and upload them accordingly. 
  • Application Fee Payment: Application fees are to be paid through prescribed ways.
  • Submission: Checking the information and uploaded documents before submitting the application.
  • Merit List: The college shall prepare and publish a merit list based on CUET-UG scores and as per other conditions outlined in its admission policy. 
  • Counselling and Admission: Shortlisted candidates have to turn up for counselling proceedings, during which the original documents will be validated and the admission fees will be paid to finalise the whole process.
  • Orientation: Admitted students will be informed about the commencement of classes and orientation.

College of Teacher Education B.Ed Admission Procedure

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) is the major course run by the college and is a full-time, two-year programme B.Ed. All the details regarding the admission procedure for this programme are:

  • Eligibility: The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised university; the subject requirements and minimum percentage eligibility should be checked from the college.
  • Entrance examination: Admission will be on the basis of the CUET-UG score. The candidate is therefore expected to take this national examination and pass it.
  • Merit selection: The last selection is based on merit derived from the marks scored from the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination (CUET-UG).
  • Seat Distribution: Accepting an admission of 50 students per annum, allotment would be made according to the ranked merit list available to students.
  • Other Criteria: The college can also include other means of selection as prescribed by the Government of India/UT Administration or the affiliating university.

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) is a two-year full-time undergraduate course offered at College of Teacher Education, Tura.

The eligibility criteria to pursue B.Ed in this college is that the candidate should obtain at least fifty per cent marks either in the Bachelor’s degree and/or in the Master’s degree in sciences/social sciences/humanity, Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in science and mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme.

The total course fees per semester in this college is around 30,000/-. So, for 2 years, the full course fees is INR 1,20,000/-
