Eligibility Criteria

Candidate under General Category for admission to the Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry degree course shall have to qualify in each of the subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and obtained 50% marks in aggregate of these subjects, at the qualifying examination and admission of students to B.V.Sc. and A.H. degree course shall be made only based on his or her merit in the competitive entrance examination and no other merit or weightage shall be considered for admission to Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry degree course.

In respect of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes or other special category of students as specified by the Government from time to time, marks required for admission shall be 5% less than that prescribed for general category i.e 47.5 % and where the seats reserved for the Scheduled Caste and the Scheduled Tribes students in any State cannot be filled for want of requisite number of candidates fulfilling the minimum requirement prescribed from that State, then such vacancies shall be filled up on all India basis with students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes obtaining not less than the minimum prescribed pass percentage.

For admission, a candidate shall appear in the competitive exam/Gujcet, etc., conducted in the current academic year.

The minimum requirement of marks obtained in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in theory papers at the HSCE examination for admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course shall be;

(i)For Schedule Caste Candidates47.5%
(ii)For Schedule Tribe Candidates47.5% 
(iii)For Socially and Educationally Backward Communities Candidates50%
(iv)For all other candidates other than those for which a contrary provision has been made in the rules50%

Admission of candidates under the bilateral exchange programme shall be regulated by the Veterinary Council of India.

A candidate shall not be allowed admission to B.V.Sc. & A.H. degree course, including those admitted under 15% reserved quota of VCI, if he/she suffers disabilities in physical fitness as listed below :

  • Disability of the total body, including disability of the chest/spine of more than 50%.
  • Disability of the lower limb of more than 50%.
  • Disability of the upper limb.
  • Visually handicapped candidates and those with hearing disability.
  • Candidates with progressive diseases like myopathies, etc.
  • Disabilities that otherwise would interfere with the performance of the duties of a veterinarian.

Age Limit

He or she has completed the minimum age of 17 years and the maximum age of 25 years on or before the 31st December of that year of his/her admission to the 1st year of Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry course; and there shall be relaxation of maximum age by five years for Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Class candidates.

Reservation

The University shall reserve seats for admission of the candidates as under.

  • For the candidates nominated by the Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi - 15%
  • For the candidates from the Gujarat State - 85%

The merit list of the candidates who have applied for admission in the prescribed form, within the prescribed time limit, and who are found eligible for admission under these rules shall be prepared in the following manner;
