DKM College for Women, Vellore, is one of the autonomous colleges acclaimed for the importance of women's education. The merit-based admissions follow the admission procedure drawn as per the guidelines of the state government of the Tamil Nadu. The entire admission process is based on the selection of deserving candidates who will pursue undergraduate or postgraduate, M.Phil and Ph.D. programs in various disciplines. The admissions for the undergraduate courses are based on the percentage obtained in the qualifying exam (10+2), which most courses take into account. The admissions for the postgraduate programs are done through the score obtained in the undergraduate degree. 

The college commences its admission process in the months of May-June for the upcoming academic year, which starts in August-September. Basic eligibility criteria for undergraduate programs are that one should have completed 10+2 from a recognized board. In the case of almost all courses, one should have an aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying examination. For postgraduate degrees, students should have completed their bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline and from a recognized university, typically with a minimum of 55-60% marks or equivalent CGPA.

Application Process

This is the application process that DKM College of Women follows. Vellore:

1. Obtain the application form: Interested students can get the application forms from the college office or download them from the official college website.

2. Filling the application form: All fields in the application form must be filled in accurately factually. Ensure correct contacts and sometimes even the academic details.

3. Attach required documents: Candidates must submit along with the duly-filled application form:

• Passport size photographs
• Mark sheets for all qualifying examinations (10th, 12th for UG courses; UG degree certificate for PG courses)
• Transfer Certificate from the last institution attended
• Community Certificate (for reserved category students)
• Conduct Certificate from the last institution attended

4. Submit the application: Complete the application for submission with all the required documents to the college admission office before the last date that is being specified.

5. Merit list: Merit list by the college is prepared out of marks scored in the qualifying examination and as per the reservation policy of the Tamil Nadu government.

6. Counseling and Admission: The candidates who have been shortlisted will be called for counseling where they can choose their preferred course based on their merit rank and seat availability.

7. Fee Payment: Selected candidates should pay the admission fees within the stipulated time frame to avail of the admission.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Com: The 10+2 scale serves as the basis for entry into B.Com courses. Specializations include B.Com (General) and B.Com with Computer Applications at the college.

B.Sc: Admission into the B.Sc. program in Mathematics, Zoology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Computer Sciences are counted on the basis of marks in the 10+2 and with much focus on the science subjects.

BA: BA programs are in History, English, and Tamil, and admissions are based on 10+2 marks, preferring applicants with relevant subjects in their higher secondary education.

BCA and BBA: These professional courses also consider 10+2 marks for admission and BCA requires a strong math and computer science background.

M.Sc: Admission into M.Sc programs in Biochemistry, Applied Microbiology, Food and Nutrition, Computer Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, Zoology, and Biotechnology is dependent on the marks earned in the relevant bachelor's degree.

MA: Candidates for MA courses in English, History, and Human Resource Management should qualify according to their undergraduate scores in the relevant or associated subjects.

M.Com: Admission into M.Com is based on the scores in B.Com or related undergraduate programs.

M.Phil and Ph.D.: These research programs have their own admission process, usually involving an entrance test or an interview. Students applying for these programs have to complete their postgraduate degree in the relevant discipline.
