Government Autonomous College, Angul Admission Process

Government Autonomous College, Angul (GACA), is the oldest autonomous college in Odissa. It has the largest number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs on offer in this college. The programs offered by GACA are arts, science, commerce, and management. GACA's Admissions process is to select deserving candidates based on merit. Admissions normally begin before the academic session of August-September. The admission process for the undergraduate programs is through merit in the qualifying examinations (10+2 or equivalent). In case of professionalism, however, the college goes by conducting a Common Entrance Test as prescribed by the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha.

Application Process

Application procedures differ with regard to programs for Government Autonomous College, Angul, and these are as follows:

1. Undergraduate Programs:

  • Either visit the college website to obtain the application form, or visit the college office to obtain a hard copy.
  • Fill out the form with clear personal and academic details.
  • Attach requisite documents which include 10+2 grade sheets, character certificate, and similar others.
  • Forward the completed application form along with required fees within the deadline.

2. For Postgraduate Programs:

  • Register for the Common Entrance Test conducted by the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha.
  • Get to the examination day and do the entrance test on that date.
  • Upon selection, obtain and fill in the college application form.
  • Submit the application form along with the entrance examinations score, graduation mark sheets, and other required documents.

3. For MBA Programs:

  • May require independent application and possibly acceptance of national-level exam scores.
  • Shortlisted candidates may be invited for personal interviews.

The basic documents include:

  • Completely filled application 
  • Passport size photographs
  • Marks sheets for qualifying examinations (10th, 12th, or graduation, as applicable)
  • Character certificate from the last attended institution
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Entrance examination scorecard (for postgraduate courses)

Degree Wise Admission

To begin with, the B.Com program at GACA has an intake capacity of 192 seats which are finally filled based on merit in the qualifying examination (10+2 or equivalent). Candidates should have studied the relevant subjects at their higher secondary level. 

B.Sc Programs: GACA offers B.Sc programs in different disciplines which include Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Mathematics. Except for B.Sc Mathematics which has 38 seats, all the rest branches have an intake of 60 students each. Admission is based on the merit of results in the 10+2 science subjects.

BA Programs: The college offers BA programs for Politics, Economics, History, Hindi, Sociology, Education, Odia, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Geography, English, and Mathematics. The intake under each varies from 8-48. Admission for these degrees is drawn from the 10+2 results.

MBA and MBA Integrated: Both these courses are self-financed with an intake of 60 students into each. For these programs their admission process consists of considering an entrance test score, academic accomplishments, and possibly an interview.

M.Com: With 60 seats in total, this self-financed course is offered to students through a Common Entrance Test prescribed by the Higher Education Department, Government of Odisha. 

MA Programs: Political Science, Odia, and Economics are offered in MA at GACA and each program has an intake of 16-32 students. The admission process for this course is a Common Entrance Test.

M.Sc Programs: The college offers two types of M.Sc in Physics and Zoology. The seat intake cap is 16 for each discipline. Admission is through Common Entrance Test.
