Government College, Maheshwar is open to inclusiveness where all interested learners can fit in. The admissions generally begin after the declaration of results for the 12th standard for undergraduate courses and after the completion of the bachelor's degree programs for postgraduate courses. 

For undergraduate programs such as BA, B.Sc, and B.Com, the main eligibility requirement is successful completion of the 12th standard examination. The selection is primarily based on merit, i.e. the performance of candidates in the qualifying examination. The grades obtained in the bachelor's degree are the main basis for selecting A.MA and M.Com programs. 

Application Process

The application process at Government College, Maheshwar is in accordance with the general procedure of the government colleges of Madhya Pradesh:

1. Admission Announcement: The commencement of admissions is announced through various media and on the official college website.

2. Application Form: Candidates need to obtain and duly fill in the application form. This is made available online, on the college website, or in person at the college admission office.

3. Document Submission: Candidates need to submit, along with the application form, the following documents:

• Mark sheets of qualifying examinations (12th standard for UG courses, bachelor's degree for PG courses)
• Transfer Certificate
• Character Certificate
• Caste Certificate (if applicable)
• Recent passport-size photographs

4. Prepare Merits List: The college prepares a merit list based on the performance of the candidates in the qualifying examinations.

Degree wise Admission Process

BA: Government College, Maheshwar is running a Bachelor of Arts program. Admission to BA will be done on the basis of a merit list created on the results of the 12th standard examination. Students having 10+2 from a recognized board can apply.

B.Sc: The college offers two B.Sc programs - B.Sc in Botany, Chemistry, and Zoology, and B.Sc in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Admission to these programs is merit-based, taking into account 12th standard marks, especially in science subjects. Students from the science stream in their 10+2 are eligible to apply.

B.Com: For the Bachelor of Commerce program, admission is granted on the basis of the merit list prepared from the 12th standard examination results. Students completing their 10+2 with commerce or equivalent subjects are eligible to apply.

MA: The college offers MA courses in Economics, English, Hindi, Political Science, and Sociology. Admission to these master degree programs is based on the merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in their respective bachelor degree program. Graduates of recognized universities in the same or related field are eligible to apply.

M.Com: Admission to the Master of Commerce program is offered on the basis of the merit list prepared based on marks obtained in B.Com or equivalent. Graduates with commerce background from recognized universities are eligible to apply.
