GCN has a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs in different fields such as arts, commerce, and sciences. The admission is fully merit-based with a very transparent selection procedure. The admission cycle for GCN is mostly in tune with the academic year of the Kerala-state universities. The dates may, however, vary from year to year, and generally, admissions are likely to start in the months after the declaration of results of higher secondary or equivalent examination. Till UG level, admission is given according to the marks in qualifying exercise, while postgraduate admission is done on the basis of grades in the relevant bachelor's degree programs.
For undergraduate programs, the minimum eligibility is 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognized board. The full-time undergraduate programs offered by the college are six in number: BA Economics, BA History, BA Malayalam, B.Sc Mathematics, B.Sc Physics and Computer Application, and B.Com Accounting. Each program will have certain subject requirements relating to the select field of study. The GCN postgraduate entrance process holds up to competition based on performance in the applicant's bachelor's degree. There are four postgraduate programs offered by the institution: MA in Economics, MA in History, MA in Malayalam, and M.Com with a specialization in Finance. Admission Process Degree wise
BA Programs: GCN has three BA programs: Economics, History, and Malayalam. Admission to these BA programs relies on the marks earned during the qualified higher secondary examination. Candidates who've studied the relevant subjects in the 10+2 would enjoy some advantage in these programs.
B.Sc Programs: The college has two B.Sc programs-Mathematics and Physics with Computer Application. Admission to these courses requires a substantial foundation at the higher secondary level in science-based subjects, particularly Mathematics and Physics. Selection is based on marks obtained in those subjects as well as the overall performance in the qualifying examination.
The B.Com program: Under B.Com Accounting, students from a commerce background in higher secondary education are mostly preferred; however, students from other streams can also apply. Admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination, with a greater weightage to subjects relevant to commerce and accounting.
MA Programs: GCN offers MA programs in Economics, History, and Malayalam. In most cases, an applicant is expected to have an undergraduate degree in a respective or related discipline to the master's program in question, depending on his or her admission on the basis of marks in relevant subjects during undergraduate studies.
M.Com Program: Any graduate with an undergraduate degree in commerce or any other field related to commerce is eligible for admission to M.Com Finance at GCN. The admission will be based on the merit achieved in the B.Com program or its equivalent degree, particularly with respect to knowledge of financial concepts and accounting principles.
