Government First Grade College, Sedam (GFGCS) is a co-educational college by the Government of Karnataka. The college is situated in Vidya Nagar, Sedam, Gulbarga. The college provides various undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts, commerce, and science streams. GFGCS has a merit-based admission process, following the general rules of college-level admissions.

The college takes 2,066 students and provides 20 courses under 7 programs of degrees. GFGCS is associated with the concerned university and is NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) accredited. Admission usually starts before the academic year, which normally starts in August-September.

Application Process

Going by general procedure of Karnataka government colleges, the following steps are to be followed:

1. Log on to the official website of Government First Grade College, Sedam and look for admission announcements.

2. Download and complete the application form for the program of choice. Fill in all details accurately.

3. Collect the documents required, which are usually:

• Passport size photos
• 10th and 12th standard mark sheets and certificates
• Transfer Certificate from the last institution

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Com: The Bachelor of Commerce course of GFGCS is a preferred course among the students. Candidates are admitted as per the marks secured in 10+2 or equivalent. Emphasis is given to those subjects which relate to commerce courses.

BA: Nine specializations are provided under the Bachelor of Arts degree, such as combinations of Economics, Political Science and Sociology; History, Economics and Political Science; and Psychology, Journalism and Optional English. Admission is normally on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance examination, subject to the fact that due weightage will be given to subjects pursued at 10+2 level.

B.Sc: GFGCS offers five specializations in the Bachelor of Science course, such as Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science; and Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. Admission is made on the basis of academic record in the 10+2 examination, with a focus on science subjects.

BBA: The admission process for the Bachelor of Business Administration course takes into account the marks secured in the 10+2 or equivalent examination, with a focus on business-related subjects.

BCA: For BCA programme, admission is through performance in 10+2 examination and, preferably, from students having background in maths or computer science.

MA: Two post-graduation courses in Arts, i.e., MA Economics and MA Political Science, are conducted by the college. Admission into these courses is normally through marks in the related bachelor's degree.

M.Com: Admission to the Master of Commerce program takes into account the performance in B.Com or a similar degree.
