Government Shivalik College, Naya Nangal, is a college of repute located in Punjab, India. It has in place a wide-ranging admission procedure aimed toward selecting the best qualified candidates for a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. While admission procedures usually commence immediately after the declaration of results of the 12th standard examination, merit is the basis for selection by the Government Shivalik College through its admission system. Since 12th-standard results or the equivalent examinations are the basis for admission to undergraduate courses, for postgraduate programs there are significant impact of performance at the graduate degree level.
Application Process
1. Notification-The college gives the admission notification, which is available on its website and in various local newspapers, thereby announcing the beginning of the process in different programs.
2-Application Form: Candidates have to obtain an application form, either online from the college website or offline from the college admission office, and fill it.
3-Document Submission: Candidates should submit the completed application form before the deadline, along with the following supporting documents:
4-Application Fee: Candidates should pay the application fee, which will be specified in the admission notification, including payment modes.
5-Submission: The duly completed application form along with all the required documents and the application fee receipt should be submitted before the last stipulated date indicated in the admission notification.
6-Merit List: Merit lists for each program shall be prepared and published by the college, according to the criteria determined for that particular course.
7-Counseling: The shortlisted candidates may be called for counseling in which they exercise the option of selecting their preferred course according to merit and availability of seats.
8-Admission Confirmation: After the allotment of the admission seat, candidates pay the admission fee and complete the remaining formalities to confirm their admission.
9-Orientation: Confirmed candidates at the beginning of any academic session should carry out orientation for admitted candidates.
Degree wise Admission Process
BA: The candidate for this college shall take it for granted that Bachelors of Arts follow an admission program, and merit shall be based on the number of points scored in the 12th standard examination to participate; students of any stream are eligible for this program.
B.Sc Medical: Candidates must have passed their 12th standard with Biology as one of the subjects for admission to the B.Sc Medical Program. Selection is based on merit obtained in the qualifying examination.
B.Sc Non-Medical: For admission to the B.Sc Non-Medical program, candidates must have passed their 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, and a merit list shall be prepared based on marks obtained in the above-mentioned subjects.
B.Com: Merit marks obtained in the 12th standard examination, preferably from the Commerce stream, BBA follows.
BCA: Candidates who have completed their 12th standard with Mathematics as a subject are eligible to apply for Bachelor of Computer Applications. Admission is on merit based on the qualifying examination.
PGDCA: The Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications is available to graduates of any discipline. Admission is based upon marks obtained in the qualification degree.
MA Economics: Candidates with a bachelor's degree in any discipline are eligible to apply for the M.A. in Economics. However, candidates may be given preference if they have an Economics background or have studied related subjects.
MA Political Science: Graduates of any discipline may apply for an M.A. program in Political Science. Selection will be based on undergraduate marks, with preference given to those with a Political Science background.
