Government Womens College, Mandya Admission Process

Government Women's College, Mandya and is one of the most reputed women's colleges in Karnataka, India. The college has a detailed admission procedure so that deserving candidates are selected for a plethora of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The college being affiliated, follows an academic calendar as per its universities. The normal admission procedure at Government Women's College usually starts after the announcement of 12th-standard examinations. The college has an open admission policy, merit-based in its selection. However, the specific dates each year may change, but it usually falls between May-July, with the college opening in the month of August.

Degree Wise Admission Process

B.Sc. Courses: Courses offered are in B.Sc. Physics, Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics and Electronics, Biochemistry, Botany, and Microbiology. Admission to those streams depends on the candidate's performance in the 12th standard in the relevant subjects, and the college might publish a merit list for seat allocation.

BA Programs: The college offers several combinations in BA such as History, Political Science and Sociology; Economics, Political Science and Sociology; and Criminology, Psychology and Sociology for admission to the BA programs usually on the basis of 12th standard marks, giving preference to those with a higher score in relevant subjects.

B.Com and BBA: Selection for B.Com and BBA programs is based primarily upon candidates' 12th standard marks in commerce and mathematics subjects and preparation of a merit list for allocation of seats.

BSW (Bachelor of Social Work): Admission to the BSW course will be based on 12th standard marks, plus the possibility of an additional aptitude test/interview to determine the applicant's suitability for social work.

Postgraduate Programs (MA, M.Com, M.Sc): Different postgraduate programs offered include MA Kannada, Sociology, History, and Economics; M.Com; and M.Sc in Chemistry. The general practice for admission is on the basis of undergraduate marks in the relevant subject by the candidate, with some departments carrying out entrance tests/interviews for final selection.
