Hi, Dhiraj
Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College (JGEC), Jalpaiguri is a premier Engineering College in the State of West Bengal. JGEC is the second oldest of all technical institutions beside the Bengal Engineering and Science University(formerly Bengal Engineering College,Shibpur) in the state of West Bengal. At the time of its inception, JGEC was affiliated to the Calcutta University.
I Can't tell the exact cutoff of 2020 but can check previous year cutoff through this link

Dear Matish, we do not have 2019 placements as yet because the academic year is yet to be over. But in 2018, 15 students were placed in Robert and Bosch, 4 for Sharpoonji Pallonji and 2 for TCS. For branch wise statistics, please visit their official page at: http://jgec.ac.in/placements/aboutUs.php

Hi,
Congratulations on your admission. IT is an excellent course to pursue and also has a lot of scope for jobs. Both GCETTS and JGEC are decent government colleges in terms of studies. However, JGEC is slightly better in terms of placements and facilities provided in the campus. You can choose based on your priorities like location, fees etc.
All the best!
Dear aspirant,Previously (till 2015) ,WBJEE Engineering decentralized counselling (spot round - if any seat left) was operated by each college /institution, individually. But now(after 2015) the whole process is maintained by WBJEE. Just like the previous year, there are 3 rounds of counselling, after that the spot round is done for those colleges having vacancy. As the whole process is online, there is no chance that someone would miss the spot round for lack of information. Those who want to attend the spot round would have the priority based on their ranks.
Hope this helps.
Hi ! You just need to add your preference in the spot round counselling. Nothing else anymore. Now you get CSE means ? Have you got the chance without participating in mop up round. So please be specific with your question. You have a terrible chance to get CSE in jgec. So hope you understand and best of luck to you.
Hello student,
You have secured a very good rank in WBJEE. But it seems difficult for your rank to get admission in Civil Engineering in JGEC. Based on the previous year WBJEE cut off ranks for JGEC, the opening rank for Civil Engineering in JGEC through WBJEE is 2450 and the closing rank is 6854 for general category. So try to get admission in some other good colleges.
Best of Luck!
Hi Deep Ghosh!
Greetings!
If you are opting to study in a Core Dept.the priority list is:
NOW,
KGEC is in vicinity of a metropolitan city like Kolkata. So,int terms of location it has a bigger advantage than JGEC.
But , JGEC is always reputed to have the best faculties in Core dept. Being a Govt. College, the lab faclities in EE dept. of JGEC are better than any other pvt. college(thats for sure).
Core dept . is always better in any Govt. College than in any pvt. College.
But if you want to grab a job in an IT firm rather than any Power sectors( meant for EE) , IEM has an upper hand than its counterparts.
Thus the choice of preference is upto. you.
Please upvote if this was helpful to you.
Good Luck.

Hostel facilities are good, & now hostels are being renovated in a proper way. A LAN network is provided to the hostelers at no cost, & mess meals are provided twice. Along with that, every hostel has a different canteen. Sports are well Encouraged.
Infrastructure in our department and also other departments is well. Labs are modernized with good facilities. Modern classrooms are available. There are a lot of books in our library. Four hostels for boys and one hostel for girls are available in our college. There are lots of opportunities for sports and games like cricket, football, volleyball, basketball, etc.
We have the best infrastructure in our college, with well-furnished classrooms and labs that provide a beautiful environment to study and bond with our teachers.
