Prior degrees:

Students applying with a bachelor’s degree are eligible for admission to their Master’s program. Once accepted to their Master’s program, student can undergo in their second year the Field Evaluations. These evaluations serve as admission to their PhD program. Having passed the Field Evaluations, the students can commence their doctoral studies once their Master’s is completed. Students who already hold a Master's degree may apply for direct acceptance to their PhD program, but still must pass the Field Evaluation to become a doctoral candidate. Your undergraduate and graduate degrees need not be in aeronautics or astronautics.

They recommend that all or at least two of these come from faculty members with whom you've worked closely, especially in a research capacity. They will not admit more students than their faculty can effectively advise. This number varies term-to-term, and specialty-to-specialty, depending on the composition of their applicant pool and their current graduate student population.

First round is the offline round where you go and get a seat according to your rank. If your choice of branch is already full, you would have to register yourself for next rounds which occur online. Then you would get waitlisted for that particular branch. (You can get yourself waitlisted for 4-5 branches in your order of priority)

After the offline round ends, some alloted seats get vacant as people get better opportunities. The vacant seats are then alloted to the waitlisted students in the next online rounds.

After each online round, there are new vacancies which are filled up in the subsequent rounds. 3-4 online rounds occur. Then there is an inter college round where one can change their college (eg: from Jaipur Manipal to Main Manipal) and then a final college specific spot round.
