Mahatma Gandhi Government College, Mayabunder Admission Process

The Mahatma Gandhi Government College Mayabunder (MGGCM) known in the picturesque Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has been nurturing illustrious minds for over three decades. By promoting inclusion and merit in a bid to make MGGCM admission process just and fair, it is in effect, giving an opportunity to those deserving candidates who wish to pursue higher studies in this premier institution.

MGGCM admission process is open mainly on CUET UG Common University Entrance Test for undergraduate programmes. It is based purely on the national entrance test for admission into different undergraduate programmes provided by the college. The CUET UG is usually held in May, whereas the exam dates for the next session would be May 15 to May 24, 2025. In order to take admission to MGGCM, candidates should have cleared their 10+2 from a recognised board. 

MGGCM Application Process

The application process for Mahatma Gandhi Government College encompasses the following:

  • CUET UG Registration: Candidates must first register for the CUET UG examination through the National Testing Agency (NTA) portal. This essentially involves filling out an online application form and paying the requisite examination fee.
  • CUET UG Examination: On the exam date, applicants are required to attend the CUET UG exam. The programme admits knowledge in online mode and tests the candidates' knowledge in subjects relevant to their chosen programme.
  • Result Declaration: The National Testing Agency declares the results after the examination. Candidates are able to check their results on the official CUET website.
  • College Application: Post the declaration of CUET UG results, eligible candidates can apply to MGGCM. The process may encompass the filling of a specific application form of the college and indicating preferences for programmes.
  • Preparation of the Merit List: The college will prepare a merit list for the applicants based upon their CUET UG score.
  • Counselling and Seat Allotment: Shortlisted candidates may be called for counseling to allot seats on merit and according to availability.
  • Document Verification: The selected candidates will then report to the college for verification of documents.
  • Payment of Fees: After document verification is completed, candidates will need to remit the requisite admission fees to secure their seat.
  • Enrolment: The candidate will be officially enrolled in their respective programme at MGGCM upon payment of the required fees.

MGGCM Degree wise Admission Process

MGGCM runs 6 undergraduate programmes in different disciplines, producing 846 seats in total. The following are the courses provided.

MGGCM B.Com Admission Process 

The college provides for both B.Com programmes – a general B.Com and Cooperate Management B.Com. Admission to both of these is based on the CUET UG examination. They have 66 and 55 seats for the two different programmes. For both courses, the total fee is Rs 3,027.

MGGCM BA Admission Process 

There are three BA programmes offered; Political Science, Historical Studies, and Economics. The intake for BA Political Sciences is 66 and 55 for the other two subjects. Admission into these programmes is determined based upon CUET UG scores achieved by the candidate. Rs 3,315 is charged for BA Political Science, while Historical Studies and Economics charges are Rs 3,027 each.

MGGCM B.Sc Geography Admission Process 

A B.Sc. degree in Geography with an intake of 55 seats is offered by MGGCM. Admission is based on the students' performance in CUET UG and other programmes. The tuition fee for the programme is Rs 3,465.

Subject-wise specifications are relaxed for the eligibility of admission into a programme; however, a good academic grounding is preferred.
