Mathrusri Ramabai Ambedkar Dental College and Hospital, in Bangalore, Karnataka, is one of the renowned colleges, recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and the Indian Nursing Council. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate education in dental sciences through a very rigorous and strict merit-based admission procedure. The admission process for Dental Sciences courses commences sometime in May-June for the academic session commencing in August-September. 

Admission to the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is based solely on the NEET UG exam, generally held in May, with results released in June; admissions for the postgraduate Masters of Dental Surgery (MDS) program are done based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for MDS (NEET-MDS), which is held in December or January. The eligibility criteria for BDS admission assume the completion of 10+2-level education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Of particular significance among the eligibility criteria is the qualifying of NEET-UG for admissions. Eligibility for MDS courses has inclusive criteria of finishing the BDS degree from any university recognized by the government and qualifying for NEET-MDS.

Application Process 

1. NEET qualification: Candidates must appear for and qualify in either of the NEET-UG (for BDS) or NEET-MDS examination (for MDS).

2. Candidates who qualify must take online registration through the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) website for all categories of seats during the specified date.

3. Submission of documents: The following documents must be submitted by the candidates:

• Mark sheets of qualifying examination (For BDS, 10+2; For MDS, BDS Degree).
• Transfer certificate
• Migration certificate
• Character certificate
• Category certificate(if applicable)
• NEET Score card

4. Counselling: Online counselling of eligible candidates will be held based on NEET score and other criteria defined by the Karnataka Education Authority.

5. Seat Allotment: The KEA will allot seats through online counselling.

6. Fee Payment: Candidates are required to pay the fees after allotment of the seat to confirm their admission.

7. Document Verification: The final document verification by the college will be held for admission confirmation.

Hence, it is imperative that applicants keep all necessary documents ready before going into the application process. The scanned copy of the applicant's photograph, signature, and other required certificates should be kept ready.

Degree wise Admission Process:

BDS: Admission for 5 years of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery are based purely on NEET-UG scores. The department admits 100 students to this programme. Candidates for all categories of seats, e.g. Government Quota, Private Open Quota, and NRI/Management Seats, must register on the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) website.

MDS: Admission to the MDS programs, each of 3 years duration, is based on NEET-MDS. The distributions are given as follows:

9. Oral Maxillofacial Pathology and Oral Microbiology (MDS) - 2

For all MDS programs, candidates must have done their BDS and qualified in NEET-MDS. The admission process is done through the Karnataka Examination Authority.
