Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education, Kottayam is a reputed women's college for the training of future teachers. Currently, the college provides two full-time teacher education programs: Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Master of Education (M.Ed). The college, as already mentioned, follows a structured admission process defined by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) with regards to B.Ed admissions. The State Government of Kerala manages the seat allotment through a Statewide Merit List prepared by the LBS Centre for Science and Technology for B.Ed admissions. This serves to maintain an advantage to both merit as well as selectivity.
In the case of admissions to M.Ed, the university operates a dual-method admission system. Of the total seats, 50% are allocated through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP), which is organized by the University, whereas the other half is reserved for Management Quota. The Management Quota is allotted by the educational agency based on the rank list provided by the University in which criteria are implemented for consideration of representation of community itself and provision for economically weaker and disadvantaged sections of society. Interested candidates should know that the admission season generally runs with the academic calendar, which begins every year around June-July.
