MV Muthiah Government Arts College for Women, Dindigul, is a well-reputed college that provides varied undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Arts, Sciences, and Commerce. The college has a well-planned admission procedure that aims to identify the most suitable candidates. Admissions generally open in May-June for the August-September-starting academic year. The college follows the Tamil Nadu state government's admission policy for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

For undergraduate courses, the college prepares a cut-off list through marks secured in the qualifying examination (10+2). The short-listed candidates are then called for counseling sessions to finalize the selection. Admission to postgraduate courses is made on the basis of marks percentage scored in the undergraduate examination and/or departmental test.

The minimum eligibility requirement for undergraduate courses is the successful pass in 10+2 from a recognized board. For the majority of courses, the minimum aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying exam is essential. Postgraduate candidates need to have passed their bachelor's degree in the concerned stream from a known university, generally with a minimum of 55-60% marks or equivalent CGPA.

Application Process

Application process for MV Muthiah Government Arts College for Women, Dindigul, is slightly different for each program but, in general, follows the following steps:

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Com and B.Com Shift II: Admission is merit-based on qualifying examination marks. A cut-off list is prepared for shortlisting candidates for counseling. The sanctioned intake for each program is 60 students.

BBA: The admission process is the same as B.Com, with the selection being merit-based on qualifying examination marks followed by counseling. The sanctioned intake is 50 students.

BA Courses (English, Tamil, History, Economics): Candidates are selected based on the marks secured at the qualifying examinations. Shortlists are prepared in the form of cut-off lists for shortlisting the candidates for counseling. The sanctioned intake for the majority of BA courses is 40 students per course.

B.Sc Courses (Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Zoology, Geography): Admission is the same as other undergraduate courses with selection based on marks in qualifying exams. The approved intake is between 30 and 32 students per course.

M.Com, MA, and M.Sc Programs: Admissions will be on the basis of UG degree marks and an entrance examination held by the concerned department. A rank list is prepared, and seats are allotted as per Tamil Nadu PG admission guidelines. The sanctioned intake for the majority of the PG programs is 20 students.

M.Phil and Ph.D Programmes: Those candidates who are qualified UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, GATE, or teacher fellowship holders are exempted from the written entrance test. Other applicants are shortlisted on qualifying examination marks and need to appear for a written entrance test and interview.
