North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, Sushrutanagar Admission Process

North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, NBMC, is one of the reputed medical institutions in West Bengal, Government sponsored and affiliated with Dr B. C. Roy Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Kolkata. It imparts education of high standards and is dedicated to the provision of health care services over various range of programs. The whole NBMC admission process is thus highly competitive and based on merit in order to arrive at a decision with the most talented and deserving candidates from across the length and breadth of the country.

The admission process commences from May to June every year for the courses commencing either in August or September. Admission to undergraduate programs is conducted by evaluating candidates on their score obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) and for postgraduate admission the score in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET PG).

The examination for NEET UG is usually conducted in May, and the result is declared in the month of June. The counseling for NEET PG for the 2025 session would take place from February 19, 2025, to February 27, 2025. Candidates are advised to keep checking the official sources for application deadline, exam date, and result date.

Application Process

The application process of North Bengal Medical College & Hospital differs according to programs:

For MBBS program:

  • Qualify NEET UG examination.

  • Register for state counseling on the basis of NEET UG.

  • Fill out the application form on the official counseling portal.

  • Upload required documents and pay the application fee.

  • Choose NBMC and preferred course during the counseling process.

  • If allotted a seat, report to NBMC for document verification and fee payment.

For the MD/MS program:

  • Qualify NEET PG examination.

  • Register for the state PG counseling process.

  • Fill the application form through the official counseling portal.

  • Upload required documents and pay the application fee.

  • Choose NBMC and a preferred specialization during the counseling process.

  • If allotted a seat, report to NBMC for document verification and admission formalities.

The selection shall be done based on NEET ranking including the government reservation policy. The candidates are thereafter expected to follow all the instructions related to the counseling and keep themselves aware of all the official notifications.

Degree-wise Admission Process

MBBS
The admission to the MBBS program would be based on NEET-UG scores. 200 seats are available. Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and qualify NEET UG.

MD/MS
The selection for postgraduate courses is on the merit of the NEET PG examination scores. For MD courses, 61 seats and for MS programs 19 seats are available in NBMC. The specializations available are as follows:

  • MD General Medicine – 18 seats

  • MD Anaesthesiology – 11 seats

  • MS Obstetrics & Gynaecology – 09 seats

  • MD Pathology – 07 seats

  • MD Radio-Diagnosis – 06 seats

  • MS General Surgery – 06 seats

Candidates possessing an MBBS degree shall be eligible to apply. The final selection shall, however, be made through the scoring of NEET PG and the counseling process.

The usual set of documents includes:

  • NEET Score Card

  • 10th and 12th Mark sheets and Certificates

  • MBBS Degree Certificate and Mark Sheets (for PG admissions)

  • Valid ID Proof

  • Domicile Certificate (if applicable)

  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)

  • Recent Passport Size Photographs

  • Any other certificates relevant for that particular student as prescribed by the institute/counseling authority.

I am pursuing MBBS, to serve the people of my country. The quality of teaching is good but self study is mandatory. The curriculum is updated and professors encourage students to publish research. The college has its own journal. The curriculum is completely clinically oriented which grooms you to become an efficient physician.
