Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur Admission Process

Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering (RGCE), Sriperumbudur, is one of the reputed colleges that offer different engineering courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Anna University-affiliated college has a structured admission process to select capable students for its engineering courses.

The admission process at RGCE mostly begins during May-June months for the academic year beginning with August-September. The postgraduate courses admissions are accepted at the college with the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET). Admissions for undergraduates at the college are by the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) based on the scores obtained in the qualifying examination (10+2).

Criteria of eligibility for courses at the undergraduate level are to pass 10+2 or equivalent examination conducted by a known board with subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as key subjects. Overall aggregate of a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) in these three subjects is commonly required. At the postgraduate level, aspiring candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in concerned engineering branch with a minimum 50% mark (45% for SC/ST candidates).

Application Process

Application procedure for Rajiv Gandhi College of Engineering varies depending on the course:

For B.E. and B.Tech courses:

1. Register for TNEA counselling on the TNEA official website.
2. Online payment of application form and fee.
3. Uploading documents, if required, such as 10+2 mark sheets, community certificate (if required), and other supporting certificates.
4. Choose RGCE and preferred courses at counselling.
5. If seat allotment is to be made, appear at RGCE for payment of fees and document verification.

For M.E. courses:

1. Report to the TANCET examination by increasing and sitting.
2. Take admission under TANCET counselling after announcing results.
3. Fill up the online application form of RGCE on the college website or as instructed by TANCET.
4. Upload documents if required, i.e., graduation mark sheets, TANCET score card, and other certificates.
5. Counselling report, if shortlisted, on the basis of TANCET ranks and seat availability.
6. If admitted, finalize the admission by furnishing original documents and payment of appropriate fees.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.E. Courses: RGCE offers seven Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) courses, including Biomedical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, and Civil Engineering. Admissions in these courses are on the basis of counselling procedure of TNEA, considering the marks of the candidate in 10+2. The intake of B.E. courses is 240 seats.

B.Tech Course: The college has 30 seats in the B.Tech course in Petroleum Engineering. Its admission process is the same as the B.E. courses but with counselling by the TNEA.

M.E. Courses: RGCE has five Master of Engineering (M.E.) courses: Computer Science and Engineering, Embedded System Technologies, Communication and Networking, Applied Electronics, and Civil Engineering. These are available through TANCET marks and counselling. M.E. course admissions vary, with 18 seats each in Computer Science and Engineering and Embedded System Technologies.

Documents to be furnished for admission typically are:

  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if necessary)
  • TANCET score card (in the case of M.E. courses)
  • Graduation mark sheets and provisional certificate (in the case of M.E. courses)

Im doing biomedical engineering in RGCE . This is the first college to to introduce biomedical engineering course as first in tamilnadu. It involves medical reasearch, therapeutic and diagnostic device. This provide variety of job packages i.e medical, reasearch, service and sales of the medical equipment.

Because to be successful we have to be different.
