SMEC Chennai Admission 2025: Dates, Registration, Fees, Eligibility

Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College (SMEC), Chennai, is one of the top engineering colleges in the Tamil Nadu state. It offers different undergraduate engineering courses and a well-organized admission process after the state-level engineering admissions. SMEC is also affiliated with Anna University and renowned for technical research, primarily engineering.

The admission process of SMEC is generally taken up around the months following the 12th standard result announcement, i.e., typically May-June. The college virtually follows the counseling process of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) for admitting students to its many B.E. and B.Tech programs. TNEA relies on the performance of the student in his/her qualifying exam (10+2 or equivalent).

For eligibility, the students should have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Application Process

Application process at Sakthi Mariamman Engineering College follows the guidelines of TNEA:

1. Pass 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as major subjects.

2. Get applications for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions counselling process (TNEA).

3. Fill up TNEA application form properly with personal and academic information.

4. Deposit TNEA application fee.

5. Return the application form with documents.

6. Await declaration of TNEA rank list based on 10+2 marks.

7. Join TNEA counselling session, during which the contenders can choose SMEC and subject of interest depending on the rank and vacancy of seats.

8. In case they are allocated a seat in SMEC, go to the college for verification of documents and admission confirmation.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.E. Programs: SMEC offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) courses in six branches: Automobile Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The courses are largely admitted by the TNEA counselling process. The candidates need to pass 10+2 with Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry and attend the TNEA counselling.

B.Tech Program The college offers a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Information Technology. Admission to the course is the same as for B.E. courses, through counselling of TNEA. Passing 10+2 with subjects Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics is the requirement.
