Vikramajit Singh Sanatan Dharma College (VSSD College), Kanpur, is a prestigious institution providing a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Most of the courses are merit-based, while some are entrance-based or selected through other means mandated by the state and university policies. The college offers 25 courses, spread over 13 degree programs, such as Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, and Education. In most undergraduate programs with B.A., B.Com, as well as B.Sc., mostly admission is given based on merit derived from the results of the qualifying examination (10 + 2). The college also checks the performance of candidates in higher secondary education for preparing the merit lists. But for professional courses like B.Ed. and B.P.Ed., there may be an entrance examination for admittance as per guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) or the state government. 

Application Process

The application procedure at VSSD College generally is as follows:

1. Admission announcement: Admissions begin, according to a college announcement, on the official site and in local newspapers.

Admission Process Degree wise

B.A., B.Com, and B.Sc., Admission in these undergraduate programs is granted primarily based on merit in the entering 10+2 examination. Under those streams, the college offers many specializations.

LLB: The Admission process for this LLB program is strictly as per the general rules laid down by the Bar Council of India and by the affiliated university. Depending on the current rules, the entrance examination should also be taken by the candidate.

B.Ed.: There are 50 seats in this program. Admissions are done according to the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination in accordance with the State Government and University policies.

B.P.Ed.: With the intake of 30 seats, the B.P.Ed. program has a special admission procedure of assessment via common written tests, fitness tests, and interviews, over and above academic merit.

M.A.: VSSD College offers varied M.A. programs such as English, Hindi, History, Political Science, Sociology, Economics, Geography, Sanskrit, and Military Science. All programs have an intake of 60 students except Military Science, which admits only 10 students. Admission is typically based on the marks scored on the relevant bachelor's degree.

M.Com: Admission in M.Com shall be based on the merit earned in B.Com or equivalent degree. 

M.Sc: The college shall have M.Sc. programs in Chemistry (45 Seats), Geography (10), Mathematics (60), and Physics (25). These will have admissions based on marks scored in the relevant Bachelor's degree.

M.Ed.: There are 25 seats available in the M.Ed. program, having an admission procedure similar to B.Ed. depending on marks in qualifying examination and/or an entrance test.

M.P.Ed.: Admission for M.P.Ed. includes the process of written test, fitness test, interview, and percentage in the qualifying examination.
