Hello Aspirant,

Both BTech and BSc in Computer Science will support you in a research career, but they have their differences:

  • BTech CS is more practical, focused on the application of theory to engineering and software development, as well as practice based projects. BTech CS would be the right choice for you if you are looking to enter industry right after undergrad, or if you are going to pursue applied research in tech (like AI, systems, robotics).
  • BSc CS is more theoretical. It focuses on the core concepts underlying computer science such as computation and algorithms, along with mathematics. A BSc CS may be preferred for going into pure research or academic jobs (eg, pursuing MSc + PhD in CS/relevant area).

If you are fairly certain that you want to pursue research and higher studies (especially if you want to study abroad, or research in theoretical CS), then the BSc CS followed by MSc and PhD could be a very good option. If you are looking for an industry focused exposure along with research opportunities, then the BTech CS is likely a better option.
