Sir, I got notification from IIT Madras that I am eligible for BSC in diploma and data science online degree. Should I apply for that? Shall I get any benefit from this course?

Anushri Varshney 4th Aug, 2021

Hello dear candidate,

IIT Madras is one of the finest and premier colleges in India. An IIT tag is itself enough to change the life of an individual. However, the skills and the learning ability plays a major role when it comes to trying skills in the real world.

See, A BSC in diploma and Data science course is good but you need to understand about the future with a chance of jobs. As after passing from the institute all you will need is a job. IIT Madras does not promise to provide job opportunities and placements. The degree just adds a tag of an IITIAN to the resume.

It is worth it if you do not want to do jobs further but not completely. There are no placements and job opportunities. So, it depends upon you whether go into the course or not.

Think about all the circumstances and then make a wise decision.

I hope this answer helps you.

how much percentage is need for oc student to get seat in IIT Madras or any iit

ADITYA KUMAR Student Expert 10th Jul, 2021

Hi

To be eligible for IITs one needs at least 75% marks in class 12th if belongs to General or OBC category  or at least 65% marks in class 12th if belongs to Sc or St category. For this year i. e 2021 this minimum percentage requirement of 75% - 65 % has been lifted off.

You can check detailed eligibility at

https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-eligibility-criteria

Admission in IITs is solely on the basis of the rank  obtained by you in JEE advanced examination

If I tell you about rank required for IIT Madras then,

In round 6 of josaa counselling 2020 , for general category closing rank for gender neutral was 7929 rank in jee advanced for Indian Institute of Technology Madras and it was for Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (4 Years, Bachelor of Technology)

You can check the same at

https://josaa.nic.in/Result/Result/currentorcr.aspx

So , you should target at least around 7500 rank in jee advanced to be on the safer sideside for IIT Madras

To have a personalised report on your chances of getting a college you can go through our college predictor, it will give you complete list of colleges which you can get on the basis of the category you belong to, your gender etc, the link for  jee college predictor is provided below

iist Vs iit Madras which is best

lakshanaramasamy 22nd Jun, 2021

Hello

Not much difference. The B. Tech courses offered by IIST , the curriculum is similar to that of IIT.

if you are strong passionate about avionics, space, aerospace Engineering. and in future have any idea of pursing higher studies then go for IIST

But if you don't have any specific interest , any highly concise about placements then to be in safer side select IIT .

Hope this Helps
