I want to become mechanical or electrical engineer but I think all engineering branches ultimately take you to software and IT sector in india, now I think I should drop this idea, what should I do?

Hi,

Well due to high demand in the IT sector and sales department, most of the engineers work in that department despite of belonging to other departments like civil or mechanical, etc. But that does not mean there aren't job opportunities in the core and other branches of engineering. But the competition is difficult specially in government jobs and private sectors don't have that many job opportunities. Still you can try for abroad job opportunities and can even further pursue masters for landing a better job opportunity with high chances of acceptance.

I hope this helps.

All the best.
