To be eligible for the admission in Thapar University B. Tech programme, candidates must qualify the JEE Main exam, which will be followed by counselling and seat allocation.
The admission in Thapar University is done on the basis of the JEE Main rankings and category-wise cutoffs will be released separately for all the B. Tech courses.
To be eligible for JEE MAINS, candidate must passed 10+2 with minimum of 60% marks from a recognized board. Appearing students are also eligible for JEE MAINS.

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (Thapar University) offers B.E./B.Tech admissions through two modes:
- JEE Main Scores: 50% of seats are allocated based on JEE Main performance.
- Class 12 Merit: The remaining 50% are filled based on Class 12 marks in Physics, Mathematics, and one subject from Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational.
For B.Tech in Biotechnology and Biomedical Engineering, admissions consider NEET scores or Class 12 marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Thapar University does not conduct a separate entrance exam for these programs.
