As far as Information Technology is concerned, the cutoff for it is way lower than what you are insinuating. Infact, it is around 12000 ( for boys) and 16000(for girls), for the bc-e category. For general category students, the cutoff rank is even lower. So I hope you realise the problem of the situation. Your rank is pretty high as compared to the cutoff for the same branch.
