The Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy, also known as SASTRA University, is a private university in Tamil Nadu. SASTRA University was started in 1984 in the form of Shanmugha College of Engineering and is affiliated with the Bharathidasan University.The university offers under graduation and post graduation in Education, Astrology, and Fine Arts through distance mode.
Placements at SASTRA University is top notch with companies such as Ford, Paypal, Amazon, TCS, etc., visiting every year. About 60-70 percent of a batch is placed in a company. The major share of the students is hired by IT companies such as Tata Consultancy Services, IBM and MuSigma. There is also a small share which is hired by companies such as Hyundai and Tata Motors who work on research and development. The average salary can vary from 3.5- 4.5 lakhs with the maximum going to 20-25 lakhs per annum.
