Why bsc courses duration is 4 year isn't it supposed to be 3 year
Hello,
BSc is usually 3 years in most colleges. But under the NEP 2020 (New Education Policy) , many universities have started offering it as a 4-year course .
-
If you complete 3 years, you get a regular BSc degree.
-
If you complete 4 years, you get a BSc (Hons/Research) degree, which is helpful for higher studies and research.
So now both options are available, depending on the university.
Hope it helps !
Hii fuzzy !
Hope you are doing well, as per the National education policy (NEP) 2020, the duration of B.Sc. and other UG programs has been restructured to 4 year programs instead of earlier 3 year program. It provides students with broader learning opportunities, research exposure and multidisciplinary options.
However, NEP also introduced multiple exit options for flexibility. This means you can leave after:
- 1 year with certificate
- 2 year with diploma
- 3 year with degree
- 4 year with degree with research or specialization.
This framework ensures that even if you cannot complete the full course your efforts are still recognised with a formal qualification.
