Hey Rajesh

Your question can be explained in simple words- IISc is basically for science and research whereas IIM is for management. If you want to make a career in science you should go for iisc whereas if you are looking for a white collar job you should go for iim. ALthough iisc provides for M.Management but still it is not the first choice for some. I will give you the information I have from those who have studied in IISc-  There is 100% placement in management studies with average ctc 16 lakh per annum.  Professors are generally  PhD. holders from IITs or IIMs with the fees being  around 8 times lower than the iims.

Hello,

To get admission in Indian Institute of Management Bangalore you need to give exams like CAT/GMAT/GRE entrance exams. Candidates are shortlisted on the basis of the CAT/GMAT/GRE entrance exams. Shortlisted candidates attend a written test and personal interview, and provide two letters of reference from persons who know them closely in terms of their academic/professional performance. No the only source to get into IIM Bangalore is through CAT entrance examination only. After giving the CAT entrance exam, you can get the seat through your merit score. Seats through management quota are also available but for that also you need to pass the CAT entrance examination.

Hello Aspirant,

Its obviously IIM Bangalore. Because the IIM A,B,C has the high reputation for MBA and these three colleges have the first three NIRF Ranking 2020. I would suggest you to prepare for CAT and get through the seat for IIM Bangalore. The average salary is about 15 to 20 LPA.

Hope you get a seat in IIM-B.

All the Best!!

Hi Koushik

Predicting your selection IIM Bangalore on the basis of your academics only will not be sufficient. The selection in IIM depends on following factors:

  • 10-12 Academics
  • Graduation Score
  • CAT Score
  • Interview/WAT
  • Extracurriculars
  • Work Experience

One needs to have a good profile overall and to be on a safe side you must score 99+ percentile to compensate overall and perform well in the Interview. Also Work Experience fetches more points in the selection process.

Dear Aspirant,

To get into top IIMs like A,B,C the student should score above 99 percentile for confirm call from IIM. For reserved category more than 85-90 percentile is safe score. Your academics are quite good. But only CAT percentile will not let you fulfill your dream to do MBA from top colleges. You should also focus on WAT, GD and PI from now.

Hope this helps

Gopal,  IIMs shortlist candidates for the interview stage based on their own criteria, which may be independent of each other. The process may include Written Ability Test, Group Discussion, and Personal Interviews. Performance in the CAT examination is an important component in the admission process. IIMs may additionally use other factors such as the previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience, gender and academic diversity and other similar inputs in shortlisting and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs . This is IIM Bangalore's previous year's cut off across various Categories:

For all the Candidates shortlisted, the 10th and 12th board results are initially adjusted by dividing each such score by 90th percentile score of that board. And then  an adjusted score is calculated for the Bachelor's degree for each of the candidates based on the final scores obtained by the candidate are used for the Bachelor's degree and professional degrees. For example,
CAT = 40
10th board = 20
12th board = 10
Bachelors = 20
Gender Diversity = 2
Work Experience = 8
The 40 points for CAT are derived from the performance in each of the three sections as follows:
Verbal & Reading Comprehension - 14 points
Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning  - 16 points Quantitative Aptitude - 10 points.

So you will need atleast 95 percentile and more to be shortlisted for IIM Bangalore.

Undoubtedly, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore with NIRF Ranking 2 in MBA, would be best for this program. In 2018, the median salary package went over 20 Lakhs. More than 130 companies come for recruitment every year. NSRCEL, initiative by IIM B, which is an on-campus incubator for start-ups and provides strong support to budding entrepreneurs.
