ApplyRanked amongst top 3% universities globally (QS Rankings)
Dear Rajashree,
There are three ways through which one can get into IISERs.
METHOD 1: Through KVPY
All the students who have secured a rank in KVPY are eligible for this program. The students will be shortlisted on the basis of their ranks.
Application Dates: 11 September to 15 September
METHOD 2: Through JEE Advanced
A JEE Advance rank of 15000 (for General candidates) and less will be enough for getting into an IISER. However, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of their ranks here as well.
Application Dates: 11 September to 15 September
METHOD 3: Through IISER Aptitude Test (IAT)
The maximum number of students are admitted through this method. The exam has already been conducted for the year 2022. The toughness of this entrance exam is more or less similar to JEE/NEET.
A rank of 1089 in the IAT exam is considered to be a good rank. You will be eligible for all the IISERs at this rank. Maybe not in the first round but by the end of the 4th or last round you will be eligible for all the IISERs according to my PREDICTION.

Hi,
Congratulations on your brilliant ranking.
Yes, surely, this rank of 1676 can get you a in iiser, although not the older iiser institutes but you can try for other ones.
Also, since you mentioned IISER, Mohali in the tags, there are briggt chances for you to get a seat here with your rank.
You can go through this link provided to know the detailed seat matrix and cutoff of different IISER https://www.google.com/amp/s/engineering.careers360.com/articles/iiser-merit-list-and-cutoff/amp
Also, check College Predictor Tool
Regards.
Dear Aspirant,
It is quite hard to predict the exact situation as it depends on the number of students attempting the exam and the number of students willing to take admission in the course.
There is a total of 1734 seats in all IISERs combined and about 1300 seats are reserved for the SCB category of students.
Hence, you'll easily need a rank below 2 K to get into IISERs if you belong to the general category.
If you belong to the general / OBC category it is quite difficult for you to get admission into IISERs.
You have a decent chance of you belong to the SC/ST category.
So, please keep other options open.
Hope this helps.
Dear Aspirant,
It is quite difficult to predict the exact cutoff situation as it depends on the difficulty level of the paper, the number of students attempting the exam and the preferences of the students.
Generally, for your category if you get 100 + marks out of 180 you have a good chance of getting IISER Pune, Kolkata, Mohali
85 + would fetch you Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati and 70 + for Bherampur, Bhopal.
This is just a rough sketch, the cutoff is constantly increasing as the competition for IISER is also increasing.
Hope this helps
Chances are less. A portion of the graduated class express that to get into IISER Pune one should attempt to score 110+ imprints in IAT, and for any of the other IISERs, you will have risks provided that your score is 80+ marks. To secure a seat in any of IISER, you should score 83-85 yet the degree of trouble can be eccentric. Cutoff marks for the IISER fitness test first round remain almost 97 imprints (genuine shorts and positions are not understood. So it very well might be +/ - 1). Second round cutoff drops to 88-92 (a good guess)
Dear aspirant,
IISER-TVM and Pune both offer five-year BS-MS Dual degrees. There are a few differences though.
In IISER-TVM you'll have to do all courses (Physics, chemistry, math and biology) for four semesters and you'll have to pick a major in the third year (fifth semester). These are basic introductory courses and in IISER Pune this happens only for the first three semesters after which you'll get to pick two disciplines as pre major choice for one semester and then move on to one discipline for major coursework. You have the liberty of not choosing a major in IISER-Pune. You can take courses to fulfill the credits and you'll graduate with a BS-MS in Science instead of a BS MS in biology/ physics/math/chemistry. This option is not available in TVM. Other than that everything else like is almost similar between both the institutions.
Hope this helps.
Dear aspirant,
Yes, there are different modes of entry to IISERs.
IISERs are a good place to pursue Biology and Chemistry and the choice of major of your daughter might change after going through the foundation courses.
1. IAT - IISER Aptitude Test - This exam is conducted once every year and has 4 subjects, 60 questions, 15 from each biology, physics, maths, and chemistry. The total marks is 180 . +3 for every right answer and -1 for every wrong answer. 50%of the admissions happen via this portal.
They'll declare a cut-off for board marks and only students with marks above that cut-off are eligible to write the exam.
2. JEE Advanced and KVPY ranks - The other 50 percent happens based on the KVPY and JEE Advanced portal. Admission is decided based on your preference and ranks. You should have obtained a rank of below 10 k in JEE Advanced.
Now that KVPY exam has been scraped off we don't yet know how the admission scenario will change.
Top 1 percentile of students of respective boards in IISERs will be eligible for the INSIPRE Scholarship which amounts to about 60 k every year .
Hope this helps
Dear aspirant,
The total marks for IAT is 180.
The number of students attempting and the difficulty of the exam keeps varying every year so we can't predict things accurately.
Based on previous year trends we can say that, if you belong to the general category, you'll need atleast 80+ marks to secure a seat in any of the IISERs. So, if you belong to general category , it is quite difficult to get a seat in IISER
If you belong to the SC/ST category , you have a decent chance of getting IISER-Berhampur, Tirupati, Bhopal ( the new IISERs )
So, please keep other options open.
