IEM has much better placement record. The highest package at IEM till date is Rs.15.5 LPA and average package is Rs.3-6 LPA. The average package at JGEC is Rs.2-4 LPA.

Yes ,obc candidate can apply in jgec,the obc certificate must be issued by backward classes welfare department in Kolkata,such certificate is issued by the sub divisional officer of a sub division 8n a district.i hope this information helps you.

Placements are not that bad in JGEC. TCS, Robert Bosch and many other companies have recruited from here atleast at 3.5 lakhs per annum. We can rate the college, 8 out of 10 in the field of placements. 

The ECE department is spellbound with its lab having equipments which most engineering colleges don't have is immense. Dedication by professors is awesome.
