Hello,

Yes, be concerned about you rank and follow the tips given below to fill the options :

JOSAA can be very un-predictable: Do not go with the last years closing ranks blindly. They may surprise you.

Keep your choices realistic: There is no such rule. But still try to put in colleges that you may actually get. There is no point preparing a 2-page list. Say you have a rank 1000 in Advanced. Its totally absurd if you want CSE and you put IITB/IITD in as your preferences. No miracle can happen. But you should definitely put IIT Guwahati or BHU even if there last years closing is at roughly around 800.

Be careful while filling-in choices: Once your choices get locked, you can not alter with the colleges or even the sequence that you have entered. So please be very careful while locking up. Discuss before hand with your family, seniors or mentor for any possible amendments.

Never put a branch/college that you can get easily at the top: Always keep the better choice at the top even if the chances of getting it are very few or almost negligible. At such a case, you can always hope for up gradation till the last round. And who knows, You might actually end up getting it. As I said, JOSAA can be un predictable.

Internal Counselling: At times NIT have internal counselling after the admissions (I am not sure if this happens at every college). Seats that are left vacant in some major branches are filled with students of lower branches only if they have put that higher branch as a priority in their list. This is purely out of personal experience and I have seen people benefiting from it. So, make sure you fill your choices such that you may also benefit from such internal counselling at the end if by any chance it takes place.

Lock the choices before time: Do not wait till the last moment to lock your choices. Remember the delay caused in the JEE Advanced Results due to the heavy traffic over the site.

I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.

Hello Raghav,

Your JEE Mains Rank is very high in order to get admission in any IIIT's and that too for CSE course. You should have rank below 40000 to get admission in Institutions like NIT's and IIIT's. You should look for other colleges like JAYPEE, Noida where you can get admission easily on basis of JEE Mains Rank.

Hello Abhinav

Since you have a low score in JEE Mains, you can't get any college through josaa counselling. Moreover, cs,ec,ee are the most sought after branches in India so they obviously have higher cutoffs. You can expect to get some govt colleges and the bottom-most NITs in branches like civil and chemical.

NITs in S.India are generally good and thus I am sorry to say but you won't get any college in the south through JOSAA.

Please don't feel down. You can apply in Pvt colleges or reappear next time and score better.

Good Luck

Hey. The category will pop up of which you filled during the admission form. You'll have to talk to the admissions office and then see what is possible otherwise the change isn't possible.

Best wishes!

Dear candidate...... hope you're doing good..

Well, basing upon your obc category rank in JEE MAINS, you may not get admission into a reputed government engineering college in West Bengal or Madhya Pradesh. But still you can give it a try at the time of counseling since you're a OBC candidate and it's better to apply for colleges in your own home state so that the chances of getting admission are high. You can also apply for other deemed universities and private colleges to get your desired branch through Jee Mains score.

Hope this helps you out.....

All the best :)

Hello Aspirant!

Yes off course you should fill up first those three IITs in the top 3 choices for getting into them in the JOSAA Counselling process. One important thing to consider is that, always keep in mind to fill up in the top 10 first those colleges with the desired branches with you you are cent percent sure of getting admitted into. This Golden rule always works well.

Good Luck for your bright future!!!

Hello,

Yes, surely you should put the program in first choice which is almost sure to get.

These are some of the must have rule/tips to follow while filling choice in JoSAA counselling and they are:

Choice Filling:Fill choices according to what you want not based upon past years closing rank that you can get.

Number of Choices: Fill as much choice as possible, but dont fill those colleges in remote areas to which you dont want to go in future.

Order:Fill choices in order of your preference.

Documents:As soon as seat is allotted to you make sure that you are strong on document side.Dont report at the reporting center until you have proper document,if you are missing any document due to some legitimate reason then contact JoSAA or RC.

Contact:Dont hesitate to contact CSAB or JoSAA office through phone or email in case of any doubt. They really help.

Option 1 is the most important,So focus on that.

I hope this would help you. For further queries please feel free to write me down in the comment box.
