Hello,

JoSAA stands for Joint Seat Allocation Authority. As the name suggests, JoSAA will conduct the admission process for participating institutes, including the IITs, NITs, and Centrally-funded technical institutes.

Registration Process:

All candidates who have appeared in JEE (Main) 2019 can apply for a seat in NITs, IIITs, GFTIs. Whereas students who have qualified for JEE Advanced 2019 can apply for a seat in all participating Institutes (IITs, ISM, NITs, GFTIs). Candidates can apply for a seat by registering on the JoSAA website.

After registration, the candidates will have to fill in their choice of institutes and courses, in the order of their preference. It is advised to mark the maximum choices available.

Locking of choices:Candidates must "lock" (save) their choices. For candidates who do NOT lock their choices, their last saved choices will be locked automatically, on the last day of registration.

Seat acceptance:Candidates allotted a seat must pay the seat acceptance fee (through e-Challan/SBI NetBanking) and get the documents verified at any reporting center.

Freezing:Candidates who accept the offered seat and are content with the allocated program and indicate that they do not want to participate in further rounds of seat allocation. These candidates will not be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.

Sliding:Candidates Who accept the offered seat and indicate that, if admission to an academic program of better / higher preference is offered within the same Institute, they will accept it. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.

Floating:Candidates accept the offered seat and indicate that, if admission to an academic program of better / higher preference in any Institute is offered, they will accept it. Else, they will continue with the currently accepted academic program. Such candidates will be considered in subsequent rounds of admission.

Dual Reporting: If in a subsequent round, a candidate's allotment from NIT system changes to an IIT/ ISM or vice versa, the candidate must once again report at a reporting center.

A candidate, who has already accepted a seat, can also withdraw the seat at a reporting center before the fourth round of seat allocation.

Important instructions:

Registration - Candidates who do not register within the specified time window WILL NOT be able to seek admission for this academic year.

Filling-in of choices - Candidates who do NOT fill-in choices within the specified time window WILL NOT be able to seek admission for this academic year

Dual Reporting: Two times reporting required in case of seat allotment changes from NIT+s system to IITs/ISM and vice versa.

No modification of locked choices - once locked, choices CANNOT be modified.

Good luck!

hi mineraryan,

actually, yes there will be a issues.they won't consider your improvement marks since you've selected as not giving improvement.they gonna consider your previous marks i mean marks before improvement.if your improvement marks is less than the board's marks, then it will be good for you.if not, there will be problem.i think you can contact the jee mains authorities via help line or mail to ask this doubts.i'm sure they will provide the correction window for jee mains but i dont have any idea on correcting these details while correction window available.so contact them as soon as possible.

Hi Aspirant,

Your JEE Mains scoresare valid for 2 years but only for qualification to JEE Advanced. For admission procedure your JEE mains score is valid only for 1 year. So,apply for the counselling with scores of the same year to take admission.

Hope this helps.

To be a part of JOSAA you should satisfy least one of the following

One of the criteria for admission to NITs/IIITs/Other participating GFTIs is that the candidate should satisfy at least one of these two criteria: (i) The candidate is within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective Class XII (or equivalent) examination of the respective stream and Board. (ii) The candidate has secured minimum 75% (for GEN or OBC-NCL) or minimum 65 % (for SC, ST or PwD) of aggregate marks in the Class XII (or equivalent) examination of respective stream and Board

As you have below 75% marks in the five subjects so you can look for the top 20 percentile of your Board. But Your boards Top 20 Percentile is above your marks

Final Note You are Not eligible. Take other courses.

Hi Natasha

According to the official information, it is compulsory for you to secure 75% marks or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th board or qualifying examination for NIT admissions. If you meet these criteria and qualify JEE Main with the required marks then you will be eligible for admissions into NITs. Along with NITs, you will also be eligible for IIITs and CFTIs. All the best!
