Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (RIVER), Puducherry and is a premier institute for full-fledged veterinary education. The admission procedure is tough to select the brilliant and deserving candidates for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in veterinary sciences. RIVER accepts the scores of two national-level entrance tests: the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate programs (CUET UG) for admissions into undergraduate courses. Generally, admissions for NEET take place from the early months of February to early March, while CUET UG typically takes place in May.
Postgraduate courses are conducted by all institutes through their own PG Entrance Examination. In the M.V.Sc, the candidate's B.V.Sc exam marks together with the PGEE exam determine eligibility for selection to the degree. Completion of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects is the basic qualifying criterion for admissions into undergraduate programs, while a recognized university B.V.Sc. degree is essential for enrolling in postgraduate programs.
