Sandhu Institute of Nursing Mahalon, Nawanshahr, is one of the oldest and most trustworthy nursing education schools in Punjab, India. The institute has three full-time courses in nursing and a well-streamlined admission process, which is aimed at selecting the right candidates. The Sandhu Institute of Nursing admission process is mainly based on merit obtained in qualifying examinations.
For the majority of the courses, minimum eligibility is 10+2 passed from a recognized board. The institute considers marks scored in the qualifying exam (10+2) for the purpose of merit-based selection. GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery): It is a 3-year course with an approved strength of 60 students. Admission to GNM is a merit-based selection. Shortlisting of candidates is based on their performance in the 10+2 examination. Shortlisted candidates are invited for a mandatory interview, which is a major consideration in the final selection.
B.Sc Nursing: It is a 4-year course with an approved student intake of 50, the admission procedure is likely to remain the same as other courses in nursing, and it would be on the basis of the academic record of the candidate in the 10+2 examination, specifically in science subjects.
Post Basic B.Sc Nursing: It is a 2-year course with sanctioned strength of 30 students. It is usually for candidates who have already done a GNM course or equivalent nursing course.
