Teaching is a noble profession in India being among the most respected ones. People these days know the importance of education and want their children to be literate, and thus, have to rely upon people called ‘teachers’ for that purpose. However most of the students initially don’t at all like the teachers or their profession, by the time passes, the importance of teachers is understood. Bachelors of Education is a degree with 2 year duration which is a base towards employment as a teacher for primary, secondary or senior secondary levels in a school.

However the B.Ed degree is pursued after completion of bachelor's degree, but it can not be said to be a postgraduate degree. In the education profession, B.Ed is an undergraduate degree and those who wish to pursue masters in the same have to go for M.Ed , i.e. Masters in Education.

Hence B.Ed is of two years duration as its eligibility is

• Educational Qualification: The candidate should have a bachelor's degree in any stream from a recognized university, be it science , commerce , humanities , journalism , etc.

So even if you are a Master's student your duration remains the same.

BEd is offered in Delhi University for a duration of two years in full time mode, its eligibility criteria is passed bachelor's degree or master's degree in science, social science, humanities, commerce or its equivalent from a recognized University securing 50% aggregate, those who have passed BTech from a recognized university with specialization in maths and science securing 55% marks too are eligible to apply, so irrespective of whether the candidate has passed bachelor's degree or master's degree, the duration of BEd isn't going to minimize at all, it will be the same, the course is offered in CIE, LIC, MVCE, SPMC.
