- Students are encouraged to acquire critical reading, theoretical insights and research skills through rigorous training.
- The research areas undertaken by students and faculty members cover wide range of issues of public concern like the effects of economic development on society and culture, problems of weaker sections, gender and society, disaster management, environmental issues, social movements, minority studies, etc.

A minimum 50% Pass in Undergraduate Degree from a recognized University Grand Commission Institution.
