The Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar (USVV) was founded in 2005 by an act of the state legislature for promoting studies in Sanskrit and rich Indian culture. Uttarakhand Sanskrit University offers a B.A. Shastri (Hons) programme. This undergraduate programme usually has an intake of 25 seats, and selection of candidates is made based on the performance in the 10+2 examination, with weighting to Sanskrit and related subjects.
Uttarakhand Sanskrit University offers a B.J. programme with 20 seats offered under this programme for the 10+2 pass candidates for admission selection based on academic merit.
USVV offers various M.A. courses such as in Sanskrit Sahitya, Shukla Yajurveda, Navya Vyakaran, Hindi and Bhasha Vigyan, Jyotish, History, Education, Philosophy, and Journalism. Each of these courses usually has an intake of 20 students. Selection is made on merit-based performance in the bachelor's degree.
Uttarakhand Sanskrit University offers an M.A. Yoga programme with 65 seats for the applicants with a bachelor's degree, selection will be purely on academic merit.
The intake is 100 seats for the B.Ed programme. The admission process is based on merit from marks obtained in qualifying examination and/or an entrance examination as per state government/UT administration and university policy.
USVV offers Postgraduate Diploma programmes in Jyotish, Vastu Shastra, Karmakand and Paurohitya, Computer Applications (PGDCA), and Yoga; each of them usually has 20 seats, except PGD Yoga, which accepts 40. Admission is based on the candidate's performance during the entire bachelor's degree.
Ph.D. programmes are conducted in the areas of Sanskrit Sahitya, Navya Vyakaran, Jyotish, Yoga, and Hindi and Bhasha Vigyan. Selection for Ph.D. programmes involves an admission test which includes either or both written test and/or interview based on selection criteria.
