Amity University | M.Tech Admissions 2025
ApplyRanked amongst top 3% universities globally (QS Rankings).
If you scored 42 percentile in mht cet getting in top government colleges like coep or vjiti is not possible because their cutoffs are bery high however you get still het admission in some private engineering colleges or self finances institutes especially in rural or semi urban areas of Maharashtra these colleges usually have lower cutoffs and may offer you branches like civil , mechanical quota in average private colleges where the cutoff is more flexible but the fees might be higher
Hi! No worries even if you haven't appeared for JEE or MHT-CET . There are still plenty of options available to apply for engineering or other professional courses in India.
1. Direct Admission in Private Colleges :
Many private engineering colleges and universities in Maharashtra and across India offer direct admission under the management quota or institutional level quota. These usually don't require JEE or CET scores, but eligibility is based on Class 12 marks (especially PCM – Physics, Chemistry, Maths). Some well-known private universities also offer their own entrance tests.
2. CUET (Common University Entrance Test) :
If you wants to pursue courses in central universities or private ones accepting CUET, this is a great alternative. CUET scores are accepted for B.Sc., BBA, BA, BCA, and even some engineering programs in private institutes.
3. Other State-Level Exams / College Specific Tests :
If eligible, you can appear for other state entrance exams like COMEDK (Karnataka), VITEEE (VIT University), SRMJEEE (SRM University), or UPES, which are accepted by various reputed universities and don’t require MHT-CET or JEE.
4. Diploma to Degree (Lateral Entry) :
If you has done or plans to do a polytechnic diploma, they can join BTech in the second year via lateral entry without needing JEE/CET.(Not offered by every college)
Finally, Always visit the official websites of the colleges you're interested in, as each may have its own admission guidelines and deadlines.
Wishing you a bright academic future ahead!
Hello,
Achieving an 83 percentile in MHT CET (PCB group) makes securing a government engineering college seat in Maharashtra difficult, yet not entirely infeasible, depending on your category and the seat availability in less competitive programs.
As you are applying via the PCB stream, your opportunities are usually more restricted compared to those who apply with the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) group, since engineering admissions mainly rely on PCM scores. Nonetheless, certain engineering programs linked to biotechnology or interdisciplinary studies may take PCB scores into account.
If you are part of a reserved category (such as SC/ST/OBC) or possess state domicile, your opportunities enhance marginally in the initial rounds of counselling. However, many leading government engineering institutions such as COEP Pune, VJTI Mumbai, or ICT Mumbai necessitate significantly higher scores and eligibility in the PCM stream.
With an 83 percentile in PCB, your optimal opportunities would be at private engineering colleges or self-financed institutions in Maharashtra through the management quota or particular biology-related fields, if available.
Hope this helps. All the best!
If you got 78 point eight three percentile in MHT CET and you belong to NT C category then you have a chance to get branches like mechanical engineering instrumentation and control or electronics and telecommunication in MKSSS Pune but you may not get computer engineering or IT branch because their cutoff is very high and usually closes above ninety eight percentile so it is better to choose branches that match your score and have better chances for admission mechanical branch is good if you are interested in machines or industry work and it gives good job chances in Pune electronics and instrumentation branches are also good with stable career options if you like working with circuits or machines during counseling you should choose the branches carefully and fill more options so you get a seat in early rounds also keep checking the official cap round updates because sometimes better branches become available in next rounds and you can shift if your marks match the new cutoff it is also good to look at other government or private colleges in Pune where the cutoff is near your percentile so you can compare and take a smart decision and always keep your documents ready for admission and verification

Hello Aspirant,
With a 16 percentile in MHT CET, it is fairly tough to get into government college or top-tier private colleges in Pune for the Civil branch. However, you have possibilities in low-tier private colleges or management quota seat. I suggest you keep track of the CAP rounds and also you may apply via institute-level quota, as the cutoffs are more flexible. You should also explore nearby districts surrounding Pune for better opportunities.
Hello,
With 86 percentile in MHT CET (General category), you have chances in some good private colleges in Mumbai for CS or IT branch. Some of the colleges you can consider are:
Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, Chembur
Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Wadala
Atharva College of Engineering, Malad
Xavier Institute of Engineering, Mahim
St. Francis Institute of Technology, Borivali
Thakur College of Engineering and Technology, Kandivali
These colleges usually have decent placements and good faculty. You can try for better options in the CAP rounds and also keep spot round in mind.
Hope it helps !
