Jaya College of Engineering and Technology, Chennai Admission Process

The Jaya College of Engineering and Technology (JCET), Chennai, as an affiliated college, showing dedication to technical education. The admission cycle at JCET is in most cases in sync with the academic year, with almost all courses commencing in the fall semester. For undergraduate engineering courses, admissions are carried out through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling process. Being state-level counseling, it aims to bring about fair and uniform selection processes for engineering aspirants. The eligibility criteria are different for different programs. For B.E. programs, candidates must have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as key subjects. For MBA programs, candidates must have a degree, in any discipline. 

There may be certain specific subject requirements at the diploma level, depending on the area of study.  Entrance exam scores will be accepted within JCET for the different programs being given. The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is an important test for MBA admission. For undergraduate engineering courses, the TNEA counseling system takes into account the candidate's performance in the authorization and relative appeals.

Application Process

Jaya College of Engineering and Technology has different procedure of application, depending on the program:

For B.E. Programs:

  1. Qualify in 10+2 examination with required subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics).
  2. Register for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) counseling process.
  3. Attend the TNEA counseling session, with seat allotment based on merit and availability.
  4. After getting allotment into JCET, proceed with admission at the College in respect of the document Verification and fee payment.

For MBA Program:

  1. Write Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET).
  2. Register for the MBA admission process at JCET.
  3. Submit TANCET Scores and other required documents.
  4. Successfully pass any other rounds of selection specified by the college (like GD or PI).
  5. Those selected will confirm admission by submitting relevant documents and payment.

For Diploma Programs:

  1. Go through the eligibility criteria specific to your chosen diploma course.
  2. Apply directly to JCET or to any one of the recognized centers for centralized admission for diploma courses in Tamil Nadu.
  3. Send in your academic transcripts and other relevant documents.
  4. Undergo the selection mechanism based on merit/academic performance or any entrance test conducted by the state.

Documents: Generally required for admission:

  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Community Certificate (if applicable)
  • Entrance exam score card (for MBA and B.E. programs)
  • Graduation certificate and mark sheets (for MBA program)
  • Passport size photographs
  • Any other documents specified by the institute or admission authority

Degree wise Admission Process

B.E Programs: JCET offers a number of B.E programs which include Mechanical Engineering, Medical Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering. These programs are admitted by the TNEA counseling process. A total approved intake of 180 seats is there through these B.E programs, 60 seats each for Mechanical and Medical Electronics, and 30 seats each for Computer Science and Electronics and Communication Engineering. 

MBA Program: Following approvals for 30 students, the admission to the MBA Program at JCET is based on the TANCET exam scores. The admission process weighs the entrance examination score, which is possibly followed by another round that could include group discussions or personal interviews, but specific details to this effect would not be rendered. 

Diploma Programs: The diploma programs offered by JCET are Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Approved intake into each of these diploma programs is 30. The admission procedure for the diploma may differ somewhat from that of similar degree programs, especially in that consideration may be made regarding their performance in selected secondary subjects.
